I'm heading up to Suttons Bay / Traverse City in a few weeks, and we are staying in a house very close to Hop Lot. I know it is pretty new, so wondered if people have comments about it in general and/or specific beers that have stood out. I have seen Hop Lot mentioned in various threads, but couldn't really find any specific information on it. Anyone have some experiences to share from it?

was there last month. The beer was nothing special but their space is pretty awesome. Just spend your time at Tandem Ciders instead

Got back 3 days ago...Loved my trip up there(stayed about 3 mins from HopLot). The SoNuuuuhhmy was delicious, they had an awesome DIPA, and their other offerings were decent. There were others coming down the pipeline....beer garden is huge and fun, daytime or night... If you have some time and love off the beaten path breweries, NorthPort was sorry the trip. Kind of the end of the road up on that peninsula, but the town was quaint and fun, and the new Earth, Wind and Fryer food truck in their beer garden was kick ass. Cheers!

Was there beginning of the month, beer was better than most startups. BBQ chicken and pork sandwiches were good for lunch. Will definitely go back next time in TC.

You lost me on what you wrote. Are you saying that you're 'sorry' you went to Northport?

I hope to make a trip to this area in September, so I appreciate your helpful insight.

Went to Northport last year, they needed more time to tune their recipes imho. Hoplot was a good stop for beer and lunch.

A friend keeps his sailboat in Suttons Bay, so he has sampled HopLot often and gives it a good recommendation.

Edit -plan on stopping there in August.

Hop lot has become one of my favorites up here. the beer is considerably better than most new small breweries. their hoppy stuff is quite enjoyable. even though their stouts arent as thick as i like, the flavor is great. the vanilla espresso stout is very good. outstanding pulled pork and bbq, good small plates great location, awesome beer garden, make smores around the fire, good music. its in my top 3 in northern michigan with shorts and stormcloud.

I noticed "The Ridge" opened in the former Sands casino conference center just off M22. The sign said grill and microbrewery. I did not have a chance to go in, but I did a drive by up the hill and the view of west Bay is worth a return visit. Have you tried any of the beer?
