Just got this from Utah BioDiesel. It's 300 microns. Will this trap hop oils?

Unless you pack it I'd say no. How much if you don't mind?

Mine trapped both alpha acids and oils.

@PortLargo what diameter is it? I'd think the boiling wort would wash both the oils and acids into the mix???

Mine is 4" and I thought the same as you . . . but bitterness was very much muted the two times I used it in the kettle. Bigger diameter would obviously help, plus having your whirlpool tube shoot directly in would probably do the trick for the oils. They make a smaller one for dh'ing in the keg . . . again I found poor oil extraction if using much more than one ounce (and who dh's with one ounce?).

I did find the 4 inch'er to be an excellent filter when racking from a primary that has been dh'ed.

It was $85 and it's 6x14. They strain oil with it so i'm hoping the pellet junk will sink and the oils seep out. Didn't realize how fine it was until i got it. Guess its love/hate item.
