This is why Hop Stoopid is awesome and Enjoy By not so awesome. I love Hop Stoopid and I don't get these recommendations at all.

Just checked and Moylans distributed to NY. It's been awhile since I've had it last but get your hands on some Hopsickle.

I don't think Ninkasi distributes to New York though.

I second and third the suggestion of Lagunitas Maximus. I almost always have a sixer in my fridge of Maximus.

Try Victory's Dirt Wolf, fresh it's a terrific brew, very fruity, nicely balanced, easy on the palate too.

No. Racer 5 is more malty, Maximus is more hop-forward. I agree with the Ninkasi Tricerahops recommendation. Also, Simtra from Knee Deep Brewing. Hope one day you get to try these, I guess you can't get them out there yet.

I have to agree. Great Lakes Chillwave is similar and should be available in Syracuse. I love Hop Stoopid and highly recommend Chillwave.

Sorry for the belated thanks for all the great suggestions. This was my first initiated thread and I thought I'd set things up to be notified when a reply was posted. Since I got no emails I figured no one cared. Imagine my surprise and delight when I just logged on and discovered all these great, thoughtful suggestions!

Anyway, I've been fortunate enough to try many of the above suggestions in the past, including Dirtwolf, Flower Power, Deviant Dale's, Double Jack, Green Flash, and Gubna. Oh, and Maximus, of course. And I liked 'em all. I'm going shopping now and will definitely be getting some of the others, especially the Sixpoint. Have seen it many times but never grabbed it. Ditto for the Chillwave.

Oh, one more thing: My fave beer store, the Byrne Dairy/Galeville Grocery down the road in Liverpool, is having a ... drum roll, please ... Lagunitas tasting today!
