Ill stick with Sierra Nevada Torpedo bombers for 2.99$. Killer deal and tastes better than Hop Stoopid.

Unless that shit's bottle dated, there's no way to know it's fresh. Especially with a trip from California to Illinois.

Anyone know if Lagunitas bottle dates?

I love Hop Stoopid also. Great go-to, hoppy beer. There are others I enjoy a bit more but for price point and taste, it is a terrific offering....

With all due respect to Green Flash, Stone, Ballast Point, and company, sometimes I think Lagunitas invented hops.

Its good, but the back end falls apart as it warms. Gets too nutty and it mixes poorly with the perceived sweetness from the hops. I blame the Victory malt.

How is this a cheap beer?

Even at $4.49 a bottle tax included it turns into a $14.70 six pack.

Flower power is under $10 a six pack at whole foods.

Good beer but lets not call it cheap. There are many really good IPA's for well under $60 a case, even in Philly.

    Enjoy

It's a great beer, and a hell of a good value. It's probably not one of the top 40 on here because there are probably 4000 DIPAs; it's a ridiculously popular style, both for brewers and drinkers. The top 100 are probably all within a few decimal points of eachother.

Great beer, great price, but not underrated. It does well on the ratings and if it falls a little short, I'd guess it's because it's a little more bitter than most DIPA heads prefer.

When shopping for IPAs, it always comes down to picking my favorite among the most reasonably fresh that my beer store has to offer. I've only had a bottle of Hop Stoopid one time and I always stay away from it now because the one I had was ancient, and I can never read the bottling dates. Even if I could read them, I would have to learn to disipher their bottle date codes.
I've been told over and over that this beer is awesome when it's fresh, so I'd like to know where Lagunitas' bottle dates are, and how to read them. Anyone wanna help a bro out?

4 digit date on the neck, first three # are the day of the year, last # is the #in the date of the year.

HS is good but here's a reasonable comparison to consider. Hop Stoopid vs. Stone Rumination. Bombers similarly priced, similar ABV, both highly ranked in the bowels of BA...SR wins... IMHO of course.

This thread has caused me to go buy this beer. Like others have mentioned, I forgot how good it is. Can't beat the price.

I love the citrus kick! and who cares if they use extracts, they say so right on the bottle, at least the one I had did. Amazing beer!

I agree it is a great price for what you get, but it does fall off. (Guess that makes me snobby as well, lol) Had it on tap at Lagunitas on Thursday. It was fantastic. Stating facts ain't snobby RB, just keeping it real by telling it like it is. Great beer if drank fresh, if not, then not so much. Cheers!
