Did they have leftovers the next day? I'd like to make it down after 4elf.

There is a new hopcat billboard at the 1-75 & 1-94 interchange I am greatly looking forward to this finally opening. I can walk there from my office for beer less lunches and hit it up on the way home for growler fills.

I plan on skipping the madness of opening day, but plan on stopping here a lot!!!!!!

They tapped other beers and rotated the shorts over time if I remember correctly

I am so geeked about this opening it's not even funny. Once the M1 Rail is in, I can hop on at my office at Campus Martius and be there in under 8min. Life is good.

Too funny, we just had a conversation an office lunch yesterday that the only people riding the M-1 will be Compuware people coming up to HopCat

No way man, M1 will be a big deal. Connecting midtown to downtown will be helpful.

It will, but you have to have baby steps. We can take this offline some time over some pints at HopCat

For sure, if you train riding Compuware people leave any room at the bar for us walking Wayne State, DMC and Karmanos people!!!

A lot of us folks that live in the Cass Corridor (Midtown), Woodbridge, or New Center will get plenty of use out of it. As it stands right now, I don't go downtown all that often because it's a bit too far to walk and I don't want to drive and try to park or pay a cab $20-30 to drive me 5 min away. If there was an easier way to get there, I'd be all over it. A lot of neighbors I've talked to feel the same way.

Nah, I'll be driving there for awhile as it is on my way home.

Excellent, I am very glad to hear that. Although I am cynical, as an ex mid town resident I really hope it works!

Have fun, everyone. I was going to attend, but I really need a weekend at home- been on the road a lot! That being said, this draft list is legendary.

And what an honor to have "The Huma Room" as the name of the music venue! I love the fact that Mark Sellers' favorite beer is one of our flagship IPA's.

This was on tap the first time I ever visited the brewpub (last fall) and of course I had to try it. It was really good! I'll definitely get a glass if I head downtown next weekend. Not excited about dealing with the crowd, but so much on tap I'd love to try.

My wife and I are trying to decide either to do this or 4Elf. Crack fries for a year sounds great, but not as good as BBP5th in my opinion. The wife though wants free crack fries for a year.

Question is how early does your wife like to line up?
"We'll also give the first 200 people in line (ages 21+) free Crack Fries every week for year"
With the constant state of insanity surrounding all things beer I would not hazard a guess at when people will start lining (camping) for this event. The "warm" weather will likely contribute to how early people begin.

I can't imagine too many people are going to "camp" overnight for this due to safety concerns. While I am a huge proponent of Detroit and feel safe here 99% of the time, I feel like camping out all night is inviting trouble and probably not the best idea.... but for those that choose to - please look up the number for the Wayne State police and keep it on hand in case of an emergency. Hopcat is in their territory and they show up about 20 times faster than DPD does.

I could be way off but with this the same day as 4elf i think the crowd may be less massive than the Lansing opening. I may be dead wrong too. I hope to catch the lions game next week or week after.

I certainly would discourage camping out in Detroit. My main purpose was to help him convince his wife that the crack fry situation was to iffy and therefore 4 Elf with duck balls and other delicacies is obviously the best choice.
