I think half the problem is the talk of a line on here. It is very self-fulfilling

If you came now you should get in but won't get a seat anywhere.

Can someone post the "hidden" gem when they get in? I'd image it'll be kicked if it is something crazy but I'm still curious.

I'm here now. Don't see anything in the list that's ridiculous other than what was listed. Anyone?

How is it looking now? Still a line to get in? Thanks.

I figure the gem was Bissel Bros Substance.

Still a line of like 20 folks all waiting for people to leave.

Still people waiting? Anything kicked yet? I may stop by if the line is gone.

Line was about 15 deep when I drove past 20 minutes ago. I just kept driving.

For those interested all the goliath's (HF, TH, Trillium, 2nd fiddle) are done. However, most of the others still remain.

Great day all around to support a great cause.

Was the line longer than year's past? Yes.

Was the Publick House staff working their asses off today? Yes.

Has craft beer interest grown exponentially in the past few years? Yes.

For the older BAs, griping about their little hobby growing . . . adapt or die, Grandpa

Walked right in the door with no line at 4:10. Pint of Fort Point in my hand within a minute. Not the mega shit-show that everyone preached about. Awesome event. Still here and enjoying plenty of epic beers, in a mellow atmosphere. Come on by if you aren't a #whalezbro hunter and enjoy some good hoppy beers! Cheers.

I wasn't able to make it, all the beers sounded incredible but I was oddly intrigued by the citra randalized dogfish 120. Did Anyone have it and have any thoughts?

    Thanks

I had a small pour of it. It was very rich, as expected from 120 minute, but I didn't get a lot of citra.

Or I'll keep drinking high quality beers and wait for the trend following nerds to jump on the mead/cider or whatever comes along on the next bandwagon.

Agreed on all counts. My 1st trip to PH and had a great time. No shit show. No hysteria. The Chicken Littles on here lose again. Staff was outstanding: very efficient and very attentive. Props to Bert the barkeep for helping me through the (excellent) chili with more napkins and more water. (Paying for it now, though.)

16 oz Focal pours on draft--can't even find that in VT. (Think I had it on draft 2014 HF anniversary wknd at Rez, but only cans since then.) Was the clear draw (and clear winner for me), as I'd guess at least 80% of first pours at noon were of FB. They had a keg problem so it was unavailable for a bit, then back up again an hour later. Due to that unavailability, I believe Mastermind kicked first (did not get to try it).

Bert did not know anything about the "hidden gem" beer, so we all assumed it was BB Substance, which wasn't listed previously.

Thank you to everyone who put this together--a very nice event. Can't wait to come back to PH.

Got in line a little after 11 and got a table right away when they opened the doors at 12. Great event, great tap list, great food. Definitely will return for the next one!

Great to hear that the event went well, and as everyone said, it was for charity so everyone wins. But I don't think this was very different from what I expected. Below is what I posted from Zwanze Day last year...

Below is from this event. People lining up over an hour before the bar opens, and then you're likely not getting in/not getting a seat if you show up after they open. Certainly not mass hysteria (neither is Zwanze Day), simply a long line before opening.

Glad you had a great day though, if I wasn't busy I may have even swung by around open just to scope it out. Worst case scenario I'd pop over to Deep Ellum for drinks if the line was long.

As @EnronCFO said, if you've been around awhile and into craft for many years, you're likely over it (chances are IPAs aren't your favorite style at this point anyways, just another style you enjoy from time to time). And the growing popularity of craft beer doesn't affect my favorite events...like NERAX. I guess I "adapted" over the years.
