So for those that have gone in recent years, what's the best time to arrive? Is it a madhouse at noon? Is there a big wait? Planning to come up tomorrow but was not sure if best to wait until the initial rush eases. I would imagine some beers kick quickly, right? http://beeradvocate.com/events/info/62485
I went a few years ago and arrived between 1-2, pretty busy but not out of control. I will probably arrive around 1 pm tomorrow. Was just getting into BA at that time so I didn't pay attention to how fast the beers kicked... Just happy at that time of day it is actually possible to get nearby parking!
Last year they had an HF beer (forget which one) that was kicked when we got there around 130. That was all I remember kicking.
It's a nod to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Hometown Throwdown. Jason, David and I are old fans, and The Public House once had a side room shrine of sorts to the band. Made sense when we came up with the name 10+ years ago, and it's still a great name for an event. Anyway ... I wasn't planning on fighting or throwing hops around, but if anyone wants to we can step outside. Just don't hit the belly as it'll be full of chili and beer.
If you want to try the sought after stuff (HF, maybe Treehouse) then I suggest getting there within the first hour or so that they open.
My first was HF then had the Tree House, just in time before kicking in both cases. The most unique vote has to go to Allegash-Rising Tide Ruby collab. Quite a grapefruit bomb and I even had some nice pulp at the bottom of the glass.
Couldn't make it to HHTD today, but picked up a growler of the 2x dry hopped fort point pale ale. Daaaaaamn.
Awesome event today. Had the Ruby, HF, and a bunch of others. A bit sad that Spite did not show up on the list but can't complain because all else was smooth as could be. Great beer, great company and an amazing beer event all around.
Sitting at the Publick House right now. Sipping the Trillium Cuvée de Tetreault after an awesome meal of mussels and Brussels Sprouts.
