Heads-up. The Publick House's HopHead ThrowDown is this weekeend in Brookline, MA and the initial beer & food menu has been posted.

    http://beeradvocate.com/events/info/54960

All proceeds from the $15 cover, as well as all proceeds from donated kegs, go straight to the MS Society. Beer & food are not included in the cover and must be purchased separately.

Looking forward to sweating over a bowl of ThrowDown Chili and washing it down with more IBUs than I can physically detect ... for a good cause.

    See you there ...

    Cheers!

The food looks way more interesting than the beers. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm in a position to pay a cover to get good food... it's a little more plentiful than good beer. It is a good cause of course, though.

So do you not get that initial drink ticket with the cover this year since it says beer is not included in the cover?

It's still just the initial list. I'd imagine there will be some more exclusive things available. The food is dope if you can handle the heat.

I just confirmed with TPH: Beer is not included in the cover.

Yeah, the phrasing "initial list" wasn't in the tweet link I clicked on to get there, but I did just glance right over it before the actual list. Still though, 5 days away...you'd think now would be the time to get people excited to go by releasing a full list.

As stated, same dynamic with the list every year. It's a cool little event, not a hoppy whale tick fest.

After just returning from Vt brewers Fest I was looking forward to this yearly event. No problem with the cover and the food has been outstanding but the beer list this year is not exciting my hop quest!

Sorry if this is dense - but are those the donated kegs or just some of what will be available?

Was the cover last year $10? Wonder why they took away the free beer with cover and potentially increased the cover (though it could have been $15 last year as well).

I'm pretty sure it was $15. Maybe there's a legal problem with giving someone a drink ticket?

Good point. Either way I might give it a shot. Last year I couldn't finish my food because it was so spicy, but two years ago it was spicy, but not THAT spicy. Third time's a charm?

I say bring on the heat and a Society & Solitude #4 to wash it down (crosses fingers). Even a can of Heady Topper will do.

Personally, I'd love to see Pretty Things Meadowlark added to the list. Best hop punch I've had from the backyard in quite awhile.

I would love to have some lunch while attending - and I don't mean food ;-)

Yeah if I was in the area I'd probably be forced to drop in, but that list just doesn't seem worth the trip out there. I'll definitely be on the lookout for some updates!

It's the initial line-up of hop-centric draft beers being poured this Saturday. Like the details say, more updates may follow ...

Of course there will be plenty of non-HHTD beers on draft and in the bottle too.

    Update:
    • Hill Farmstead Abner Imperial IPA
    • Hill Farmstead Walden
    ... are joining the line-up.

I'll definitely be there... Abner was fantastic, would love to try it again. I heard Walden was very good too, although I wouldn't mind Edward either. Those beers definitely made me a lot more excited to go, although I was planning on going anyways. It's a great cause, I wish there were more beer charity events!
