I'm in from MA until Sunday afternoon, staying in Nassau county. Wondering if any of my NY BA brothers and sisters have any advice for me re:

    1) Where to find Jai Alai

and, 2) what else I should be looking for that I prob can't get in MA

I stumbled across the last 6er of Jai Alai at the Plainview Fairway, and have struck out since. Hicksville Beer and Soda did yield a growler of Carton Boat Beer, which is living up to the hype for me. Barrier Brewing is on my to-do list for tomorrow. I'd love to hear any suggestions people have, though.

I've also got (and I'll post in the FT forum as well) a 750 of Trillium Congress St IPA if anyone wants to do an IP trade for some Carton 077XX cans.

    Thanks!

Use beermenus.com, you'll be able to find who has it on there.

Where in Nassau are you and how far are you willing to travel? I have not seen Jai Alai in about two weeks in southern Nassau..last batch was canned 8/25/14 and we got it about a week and a half later if I remember correctly. I did see Jai Alai at Beverage Plus in Floral Park on Jericho Tpke (Route 25) about 2-3 weeks ago on my way into Queens..however it was from the end of July. I was expecting a new batch this week but did not see any at the 3-4 stores that I usually see them. Most stores get their deliveries Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday.

Beverage Plus in Floral Park also has stuff like Rushing Duck, Great Lakes, Central Waters.

Monarch in Long Beach just got some Avery The Beast and Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin in recently. Also have a good amount of Evil Twin Aus Mas Cafe Jesus (9.99 a bottle) that I have found to be absolutely amazing. Sours have been showing up more and more frequently here as well. The Elysian Great Pumpkin and Pumpkincinno (or however you spell it) also arrived recently.

Most local stores in Nassau generally have the same stuff. I'm not entirely sure where in MA you are so I don't know what you can and can't get.

Also, if you have time, you must try to get to Other Half in Brooklyn to get a few growles. Absolutely amazing beers.

Definitely check out Barrier tomorrow. I should be there around 3-4pm to have some beers and pick up some growlers for the annual Irish Day festival (made up holiday for everyone to just get wasted and stumble around the streets; Hey, we do get a parade though!) in my town on Saturday.

EDIT: Also if you come across any Kelso Industrial IPA (4-pack cans), I HIGHLY recommend. Monarch in LB has plenty left. Since you will be going to Barrier tomorrow, Long Beach is only a very short drive away and an absolute great place to visit if you are from out of state. Take a nice walk on the boardwalk, eat some solid BBQ and take in the sites. Waves are supposed to be good tomorrow so you can take in some solid surfing as well!

Also, you might still be able to find bottles of Cigar City Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout around Nassau. We got it in Long Beach a week-two weeks ago. It has run out since but I would check on beer menus. Absolutely amazing beer.

Edit: I checked Shoreline Beverage in Huntington. They have cans of Jai Alai in based on beer menus. Not sure how much time you have tomorrow but going from Huntington to Barrier is not a short drive on a Friday afternoon.

Just left Soyosset Beverage w/ the last of their Bell's Two Hearted cans, plus a couple local recommendations. Grabbed a case of Jai Alai @ Shoreline Beverage in Huntington. VERY friendly staff @ both places! Thanks for all the help, guys

Anytime. Did you get a chance to visit Barrier? They tapped Money IPA today and that beer is not to be missed! One of the best IPA's being made in the east now.

Money reviews were what first caught my eye re: Barrier- I'm heading there tomorrow, and I'm pumped to hear they just tapped it. Personal experience for best time to show up on a Sat? And do you know if the fill other peoples' growlers? I've got this growler from Hicksville B&S that's just going to wind up in the recycle bin otherwise...

Side note...the local rec's I picked up were Port Jeff Party Boat and Kelso Industrial. Wasn't a fan of the Party Boat, but the Kelso is something else- def going back for more tomorrow!

Good to see you enjoy kelso industrial. Very good beer that they recently just started canning.

In regards to barrier on a sunday, it wont be too crazy especially with the beautiful weather and football. They fill all growlers. It is cash only! Make sure to get a flight or two and try as many beers as possible if you have someone who can drive for ya!

Didn't have a ton of time, so we tried Money before filling the growler, then got the hell out of Dodge. Great laid back hippyish beach-shack vibe, super friendly people there, no probs bringing our dog in. And Money was fantastic! Happily, we happened to have enough cash on us. I've had people approach me on the street to sell me CDs who had credit/debit capability via iPhone (not that I've ever dared take a random stranger up on it) so not sure why it's cash only, but I'd still definitely go back!

Jai Alai is ismply everywhere since about 1 year ago. Same goes for the Caribbean variants.

    Visit Barrier Brewing in Oceanside.

Sysosett Beverage is worth visiting. I'd also visit Beverage Plus in Floral Park (Queens side)

In case anyone is interested, Beverage Plus has Logsdon bottles - Kili Wit, Seizoen, and Seizoen Bretta. First two are 12.99/bottle and Bretta is 14.99.
