Yeah, the topic's come up around here before a few times - a decade ago in this thread: Hop 'N Gator (mixture of lemon-lime Gatorade and beer) As the Vinepair article notes, it was not unique as an attempt at flavored beer.
Well DFH SeaQuench has lime flavor plus salt. Althought it's probably more sour than the gatorade beer though. https://www.dogfish.com/brewery/beer/seaquench-ale
I remember drinking a few of those as a teen down the shore. A novelty but don’t recall subsequently seeking it out on purpose and unaware (and at the time wouldn’t have cared) of its history.
