I've been searching around for this trying to find answers as to what the different colors mean in relation to the bottling date. For instance, I picked up a Barrel Aged Boris with a green cap...but I've seen it with a red cap I believe. Does anyone have a complete rundown on their beers that follow that system, and what the corresponding date to cap color is. Thanks.

I know with BA BORIS it does. Each year has a different color.

Yeah, I just wish I knew what year the color meant....and if they do that color system with any of the other brews they have.

I have several bottles (and have had several more previously) that have gold caps. I think the line that says "Batch 1 & 2: Silver Cap" is wrong. I have never seen a silver capped BA BORIS.

I think the list of cap colors on the review page is just out of date. I feel like I have seen gold and green on the shelves most recently with green being the freshest batch. But then again Hoppin Frog distribution always surprises me.

Sounds like we're not going to get to the bottom of this mystery! Maybe someone else will pop on with some knowledge we don't have...

The bottles I bought last December had gold caps so I'd guess Gold Cap = 2011. I've seen nothing but Green Cap on the shelves lately, so I'll go with Green Cap = 2012.

I wanna say that BA BORIS is the only one that varies year to year.

I got a blue cap Boris, which is the 100th batch special edition. it was like $2 more, so i said screw it and got it. I don't believe it's barrel aged though.

It's not barrel-aged, it's just brewed with English malts making it different.

2009 = gold medal at GABF, Batch 1 and 2 had gold cap. Batch 1 = 4/09 Batch 2 = 7/09, different barrel and time in barrel.
    Batch 3 = green (Oct 09)
    Batch 4 = black ('10)
    Batch 5 = red ('11)

Just looking for some info and came upon this thread. I just bought one of several off the shelf with a gold cap. On the bottom, the first 2 things etched were "272 11," so maybe that has some significant, i.e. the 272nd day of 2011?

I recently cracked a green capped BA Boris I've had for a few years. Don't know if they're reusing colors but this one was definitely purchased like 2 or 3 years ago. It drank fabulously btw.
