Black IPA is one of my favorite styles. Great ones that I have had available are Odell Mountain Standard and Lagunitas Nighttime. I have not seen Nighttime in a while. I hope it come back!

An imperial stout that was very hoppy.

Honestly the best black IPA I have had was a one and done and not by my choice. It was saranacs into the dark. It came in a case. They had vivid citrus on a black beer. That is so tantalizing because the beer was black but downright colorful with citrus. Not so much of the black malts came through so it drank light and without any heaviness or too many strong flavors.

Just adding my 2-cents back to this...by hoppy stouts I didn't mean big stouts like Yeti that had some hop bitterness. I meant something more along the lines of Pipeworks' Close Encounter that was meant to be consumed fresh so that you get the hops in their prime.

Dubhe, Dubhe, Dubhe! Honorable mentions go to Founders Dark Penance and New Belgium Snow Day.
As far as stouts go, Sierra Nevada's Narwhal.

Seconded on the HH Cultrider: big ole hop bomb (and 11.5%, no less!).

Does anyone know if Victory still brews Yakima Glory in any capacity? I know they took it out of rotation, but I wasn't sure if it was permanently retired.

I really liked that take on the hoppy dark beer style.

Blakkr by Surly/3F. Really, good even though I had it about 5 months old. Dubhe is also good. Tired Hands made a beer called Zombe a few years ago. 10% black IIPA which was probably a top 5 beer for me. I wish they would raise it from the dead.

They just brought it back a few months ago for a one time thing with Hop Wallop and another beer. I liked it but didn't think it was really dark enough to be considered a black IPA.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Grand Teton Trout Hop Black IPA. BA score of 90, The Bros 96. One of my all time favorite beers.

One of my co-workers mentioned a vanilla coffee IPA that he had recently. He said it was fantastic.

New Holland definitely brews towards those tastes. Night of the Living Stout is towards that profile as well.

    Cheers

Unfortunately it was a one and done, but Bells Uranus was awesome I thought. The star of the planet series by far.

Yeah- the only reason I got Night of the Living Stout in the first place was because they described it as a West Coast Stout right on the label. And it definitely delivers- really nice beer.

The last time this was around, my local with walking distance had it on for pints at around $4.50-5. So good and a great value.
