About 6" out of the ground in the 3 Go! 1 area code. I have mine in containers and am going to divide them tomorrow. I haven't had much luck so far; they start out healthy and look great for a while but by mid-summer turn brown and die off.
Of my 9 varieties, 6 have sprouted, a few are just under a foot, Brewers Gold (6 bines) and AlphAroma (1 bine) are over 2 foot. 2nd year. Willamette Valley.
I've got about 4" proud sprouts in zone 1A (lol). Second year growth of Cascades. It's interesting to note that the first growth is partially purple. Almost thought it was some other species of plant entirely. Has anyone else experienced this before?
It's been unseasonably chilly in xtreme eastern sections of Zone 7A this spring. Everything in every garden is way behind schedule. Third-year Sterling up 1/2" and Cascade ~1". New planting of Centennial no more than 2".
I have 10 Cascades already a couple of feet tall, and some new rhizomes just a few inches tall. All of my plats looked dead last year so I was really happy to see them take off so well this year. But if we don't get some rain this year I don't see them surviving anther year of drought.
My Centennial hops are already a foot tall with cascade not far behind. Tettnanger and Hallertau are only about 4 inches tall. I think it will have a good year for hops here in the Pacific Northwest.
My Cascades have started to come up here in the intermountain west. They aren't going to be that happy for another month or so though, as winter hangs on until May around here.
My barrels are still covered with burlap. I should probably uncover them now since MA is probably not going to have a frost again.
