Hopslam (2014) in Miami?

I heard it was coming today, but I guess not?

 

It should be dropping this week.

 

I had this on draft at Bell's on January 3rd and it was fantastic. The fact that it's February 12th and it still isn't here is not good. This is a beer that is great fresh but having spent almost my whole life in MI I know what makes this beer great starts to fade around 6-8 weeks. The more time that elapses before it hits shelves here the less likely I am to buy any. Too many alternatives to get great IPAs and DIPAs much fresher. Love Bell's but clearly this is a distribution issue.

 

I assumed they made different batches and sent them out to different regions. This was a complete assumption. If the batch coming to us was made over a month ago, that is TERRIBLE distribution.

 

I hope you are right but I honestly don't know. Fortunately Bell's puts a batch number near the UPC on the back of every bottle they make. On their home page (bellsbeer.com) the have a "Batch Finder". Simply put the batch # into the Batch Finder and it will tell you the specific bottled on date for that bottle. Pretty cool. So I plan on doing that if and when Hopslam gets here.

 

Not sure about when it will be available in bottle shops, but up here in Broward a couple of bars have advertised tappings of it. Tap 42 will have it at 7 pm on Thursday 2/13 and Riverside Market at 7 pm on Tues 2/18.

Palm Beach Gardens Total Wine got 8-10 cases yesterday that disappeared quick one 6pack per. I was told the batch date was 1/23/14. Stuart TW has it now. Start calling your locals.

 

Select Crowns had it this morning in FTL area. Gone now though.

 

Got some at Sunset Corner earlier today.

 

Yeah my crown didn't know shit about it, but my guy wasn't there to answer...
Wonder if ABC is getting any. They were equally uninformed when I called.

 

Sunset IS 72nd Street. Sunset Corner is on Sunset and 87th avenue. No idea how much they have.

 

How much? Did they sell you a whole six pack?

 

The manager of the Crown in Coral Springs had a sign up for the last two weeks saying "WE WILL NOT BE GETTING HOPSLAM". I actually saw the sign last Friday and asked her about it and she said that it had all been allocated and they wouldn't be getting any.
