inb4 "it's not as good as it is to be"

I personally am looking forward to getting it again. Last year was the first time I tried it, and I loved it.

Hey @lsbell you should hire this guy because in his estimation he can apparently brew Hopslam better than you guys :astonished::rolling_eyes:[/QUOTE]

Hey I never came close to saying I can brew Hopslam better than Bells. What I said was the Hopslam clone I brewed (and heavily doctored) would blow the can of Hopslam I drank away. Additionally after tasting mine warm and un-carbonated next to a chilled pour of Hopslam I'll still stand by that statement. As far as employment, I'm quite happy where I'm at.

As I'm sure Larry would agree, it's easy to make a great beer once but it's extremely difficult to duplicate that same beer, batch after batch, year after year.

First time having this one was last year and loved it. I will make sure to trade for this one every year. We need to get this one on the shelves here in Cali.

Bought a case at my local liquor store today. Why would anybody spend $80 on a case of beer I don't know? Especially since a recent medical procedure that curtailed my alcohol consmption severely. Two cans a week times 24 = i'll be done just in time for 2018 release! I'd rather Hopslam be released in the summer so I can sit on the deck in the warm sun and enjoy it. Not that I'm not enjoying it now. I'm actually over my two a week limit on the first day. Three down now time for bed.

It appears the grocery store scene is the place to find the best price. I went to a couple liquor stores here in Indy area and found it for $18.99-$19.99 then found it for $15.99 at a higher end grocery store.

Oh I totally agree. Besides the beer not being that great to me, the price point is quite absurd.

Definitely - they've been wise not to over-saturate the market and keep the hype alive.

Nope and not bragging - just an admission. My first hopslam was enlightening but my tastes and expectiations have changed so much since that I no longer care for this beer as much as I used to. It's both nice and sad at the same time.

Hopslam has always been 17.99 in North Florida...5 years ago that price seemed absurd..now it's a damn bargain as there are crappy IPA/DIPA 6 Packs and 4 Packs that are selling for close to that much or more than that year round...still a good beer to me and I'm always glad when January rolls around

I believe it's a Tues release here. Really don't care all that much, if it's on tap somewhere fine, I won't pay $20 for this beer. But there was a day a long time ago when this beer was just great stuff.

Huh. I haven't had a chance to look yet this year, but last year I got mine for the standard $18 at a Giant grocery store.

Just got a text from my Mom who waited in line for me today at Shangys in Emmaus PA. Not sure how many cases they received but heard the line was pretty long. Looking forward to cracking some tomorrow.

It's amazing to see the vast degree of price differences for this beer. I now feel quite fortunate; I paid $13.99 a 6-pack (limit 2) at my local grocery store.

Shangy's this morning. A case was $71.99 plus tax which came out to $76.31. Also the Bells rep who was there told me that this batch (the Shangys batch) was canned on the 16th.

To play devil's advocate a bit. Couldn't a year round release vary from bottling to bottling for the same agricultural reasons... but the differences are less pronounced because they are being experienced in smaller increments over a smaller amount of time? With the seasonals being kind of like the nephew you only see once a year during the holidays. That kid looks so much bigger because you haven't seen him throughout the year. Perhaps breweries have methods of mitigating this in year-rounds that they do not employ for seasonals? (such as blending batches of raw materials)
