Hopslam in Indiana?

Nothing yet, all over Michigan. I know Illinois Binny's get it a week or two after IN and they expect their shipment the second week of FEB. my guess is you start seeing it pop up next week. It sounds like Meijer stores are getting larger shipments. Happy hunting

 

At least here in Indianapolis, it'll reach the distributor on 2/1 and released that same week.

 

My go to store in Valpo gave me their usual clueless look I get when asking about a product and said they had no idea. It's times like these that I really want to open a liquor store. Instead I did the next best thing and took a drive to Michigan.

 

I'm surprised it's so late. When I previously lived in IN (4-5 yrs ago), it would always be around by January 20th or so, if not a week earlier even...

 

@Prager62 Hopslam hit Trail Inn in Valpo on Friday. Not sure how much they have left.

 

Checked with the local Meijer over the weekend. Almost impossible to project when it will hit unless you know the distributor.

 

I've never seen liquor, beer or wine being delivered to a Meijer store, so that begs the question - do distributors deliver all of the alcoholic beverages, or does it come off of Meijer delivery trucks? Your post mentions 'distributor' but do you know that to be fact? Just curious.

 

Around this time last year over a weekend, I was shopping and noticed a delivery guy stocking the small craft area they have. He told me he stocks this store (cannot remember the distributor he works for), not the store itself. He did not have any cards but I wrote down his name and number (since lost). I was hoping to score some of this last year so he told me to text him and he would let me know if he was delivering any.

 

I called downtown Crown in Indy, they said they think it will be in next Monday, 2/1.

 

I went there today, the owner said it's late this year and won't be there until this Friday. I had a hard time keeping a straight face. Even more sad as the store I referred to in my original post was their sister store Triangle. I rarely do business with them as they're either clueless, over priced, or sketchy with anything they deem 'special'. When I moved out this way years ago they used to conduct auctions for special releases. A bottle of Utopias sat in a plexiglas case in front for years like Sue the dinosaur at the Field Museum. A big reason I shop in other states now.

 

Might have been mistaken. I usually go there over triangle since it's closer to me, but I had a friend tell me he saw it. I think they actually got it this week.

I got mine in Michigan though... For much the same reasons you describe. I like to shop local if I can, but I have experienced the same problems. Being so close to Michigan and Illinois is nice.

 

Liquor Stop in Highland got 20 cases on Tuesday and sold out the same day. I remember them having it for several days in years past. They changed ownership. Not sure if that plays into it or not.

 

My wife got me the last 2 here. I don't think they got as much as they usually do. Cask and cellar across the street got either 15 or 20 cases.

Nick's in Hammond on Indy still had a bunch last night and Delocks in Munster got their shipment yesterday.

 

Sounds like Five Star is distributing Hopslam to NE Indiana retailers on Wednesday.

 

Anybody hearing anything re: Indy? I've heard from today (2/1) to Friday (2/5)...so really nothing concrete.

 

S&V out of Fort Wayne posted that they'd turn it loose on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00. Two six-packs per person. Hopefully it's not half the fiasco that their Bourbon County release was.

 

Snagged a case last night at Crown downtown in Indy. They had a ton, limit 1 case. Clearly it should be all over in the next couple days...

 

Should add, what's hitting Indy (at least based on what I got) was canned last Tuesday, so super fresh. Looking forward to cracking it tonight.

 

Whole Foods nora has it.
