Thanks for the update. I guess I'll just continue drinking Sucks and Founders Imperial Stouts. Luckily I came across a Backwoods Bastard yesterday

C'mon, you could have said it was a PDQ or Walgreens, just to rub it into the Milwaukeke people

Otto's does have Torpedo pint cans for $1 a can. A little less if you buy a case. They were bottled in August, but I just cracked one open and they taste great.

I've been striking out on finding more Founders Imperial Stout. I thought it would be all over town by now, but maybe we got a smaller shipment this year?

I know Larry Bell was on a huge mission to get the product as fresh as possible from brewery, to distro, to store. Which really paid off, because I got it 3 days from bottle date, and it was glorious. This year the distro has sat on it since last Thursday.... and it was most likely bottled the week prior, so I don't know what is up with that. I'll check out Ray's on the way home, then Brookfalls Discount Liquor, and lastly Otto's and Discount Liquor.

Milwaukee's distributor's leave quite a bit to be desired. Too often my shops a)aren't sure what they're getting and b) don't get it when the distributor's tell them they will. With freshness being a key factor on so many craft beers, you'd think they would want to up their game when it comes to accuracy. Again, this isn't the shops faults at all. We're all at the mercy of the distributors.

Bell's is distributed by Beer Capitol. They leave quite a bit to be desired, as do the other smaller houses in Milwaukee.

OTOH, Beechwood has their shit together as best I can tell. Finding someone who is willing to share good information can be the tricky part. Most retailers don't have good information, because frankly, they don't care. It'll come when it comes. If it doesn't, you'll buy something else.

Beer is a bit of a sordid business though.

EDIT: Also, don't forget that the distributors are at the mercy of the breweries and/or shipping/trucking schedules.

It's kind of funny. I stopped by a shop this afternoon that admitted to having a specific beer I was looking for, but said it wasn't for sale yet. I've seen it at other shops around town on the shelves (ran out at other shops). Would have bought 1 or 2 4-packs if given the chance.

Its mostly because many of the reps have no clue what is going on about release dates. Usually everyone on here knows more than them.. I try my best to get everything out as quickly as possible. I can't speak for other stores though. Oh well.

I suppose having a captive market mean they don't have to try that hard. Sad.

That's sad. I like to think that the reps would be passionate beer/liquor folks like us. Or that they would realize that there is a rapidly growing market full of people who know a lot about what's happening in the craft beer industry.
