Hopslam? MN

While I do love me some Hopslam and I am going to pick up my 6'er today, I also agree that Abrasive is a little better. Nothing wrong with drinking both though.

 

Just picked some up on the way home. Very disappointed, drank half a pint and poured the rest out. Glad I only bought a sixer today. Too dry, too bitter, and no sweetness. Nothing like last years...

 

agree (but its not highly overated) its good however i like Mycenary,sucks and illumination better

 

Funny, I think the same thing every time I see the latest Surly thread. And I don't think Hopslam is better or worse than Abrasive, just pointing out that there's plenty of hype to go around for lots of beers out there.

 

So now that Hopslam is popping up in all the stores, who has the best price?

I would add Hoptimum to that list. Still, I bought my requisite sixer of Hopslam, and i have no complaints. It's a solid DIPA.

FF just tweeted that they sold out of Hopslam. That is hysteria, especially when most Beer Geek stores got a ton of it today. Did yo usee the pic of Dennis Brothers?

 

Just finished my first of the season. Aiming fluid for basketball in an hour. Nice DIPA, bitter and oily. No Abrasive, but I definitely enjoy having this a few times every Jan-Feb.

 

Agreed. Hopslam used to be my favorite, but starting last year and confirmed this year, Abrasive is my favorite DIPA available locally. It's not that Hopslam has changed, I just prefer the grapefruit bitterness of Abrasive over the sweet, slightly bitter taste of Hopslam. Both are wonderful. I still like Pliny better, although Abrasive is very, very close. I also very much love Hoptimum.

12 oz bottles contain 3/4 of a pint Ben. Therefore you can drink a half pint from a 12 oz bottle. #mathfail

 

I know how fractions work, Peter. Most times people don't drink 2/3 of something they don't like. Drinking more than half means you generally like something. Drinking less than half and then dumping it means you generally dislike something. #hashtagfail #trollfail

IMO , Hopslam, Abrasive are not good enough to justify spending six more dollars then Sucks.

Im always amazed that stores have to put a case limit on a 10% DIPA. How many can you actually drink in a certain period of time?? High ABV beers like this are typically a have one on a Friday, have one on a Saturday, and that its. A six pack alone would last me a month. Just cant imagine plowing through a case before it turns to complete pineapple juice

 

i've seen people being excited about the release, but i haven't heard about any lines forming. so FF sold out quickly, who cares? that doesn't make it hysteria. it makes it a good beer that people look forward to drinking every year.
