I'm enjoying my first four pack of Hoptimum (bottled on my birthday, no less(May 1)). I'm having a hard time savoring! Every sweet, bitter sip begs me to take another. The intensity of both sweet and bitter flavors are a combination I thoroughly enjoy and I can't believe four of these can be had for less than ten bucks! I can see a trip to Friar Tucks tomorrow for an encore four (yay Memorial Day!).

    Cheers!

Great beer, wish it was year round.

This is a truly stunning beer. I like it even more because SN makes it so widely available.

You know how sometimes it's a real bummer when a beer doesn't taste nearly as good as it smells? Hoptimum was the exact opposite for me- the taste was outstanding, and just made me want more and more. I suppose it could use a better aroma, but in the end that's a minor quibble. Great beer; I'm real happy I was finally able to get some this year.

I got the same impression. I kind of want every beer to smell like Sucks, but this was love at first sip.

I would place it up there with Hopslam, damn good delicious beer.

Hop Wallop is the same way. Doesn't have much of an aroma at all, but what it lacks in smell, it makes up for in taste.

That's one of the best features, SN makes it an easy choice for the craft beer budget. 4 pack of Hoptimum is 8.99 or a sixer of Sculpin 14.99. No contest for me, thanks to the people in Chico making great beer affordable!

I just had my first Hop Wallop two weeks ago, good beer, and you are correct, the nose is weak, but the brew is packed with flavor.

Seemed malty to me this time around. Tried it on several occasions and from different stores. The 2012 batch was better at 11 months old when I first tried it. Seemed spicier (or something I can't put my tongue on)

I love this beer as well. It's actually what I am enjoying right now. I thought this year's is very well balanced, but I liked last year's more. I feel like the 2012 had more of a lemon type of presence, like a bit more tart citrus flavor.

I have nothing to compare it to. I am unfortunate middle aged newcomer to the wonderful world of craft beer. Honestly, I can barely avoid a daily trip for a sixer just to try something else. On Friday, I spent $9.71 on the bliss known as Hoptimum and I will compare 2013 to 2014 with a much keener pallate! Thanks for some perspective!

    Cheers!

I love hop wallop, but I felt like it was a lot more peppery and spicy/garlicy hops than floral and fruity

I agree, the aroma is borderline repulsive to me as it warms, but it tastes better than it smells!

I had my first Hoptimum a few days ago. Best DIPA I've had yet. Amazing beer at a great price.

Maybe not repulsive, but not inviting as it could be.

I can't think of a DIPA I like more than hoptimum. Sierra Nevada rocks, end of story.

I guess you realize that's about a .25 per bottle difference. Just saying that either Hoptimum isn't that cheap, or Sculpin's a better deal than you realize.
