I'm thinking about doing a single-hop night for my tasting group. Has anyone ever done this? Was it successful, or does it sound good in principle, but falls apart in practice? Here's the tentative list, subject to change (order tbd): CITRA (TG Pseudo Sue and/or Revolution Citra-Hero) NELSON SAUVIN (ATG Rico Sauvin) SIMCOE (Pipeworks Simcoe Ninja) SORACHI ACE (Brooklyn SA) MOSAIC (TG Sosus) CENTENNIAL (Bell's two-hearted) AMARILLO (FFF gumballhead) Would love to add either a Summit or Galaxy, so still looking for those. Thoughts? Recommended changes? I'm stupid?
The current sierra nevada harvest series beer out is a single hop ipa, equinox hop. Only like 4 bucks for 25 oz .
@SinBoldly a single hop tasting is a great idea! At the 2014 National Homebrewers Conference (NHC) a homebrew club brewed an APA using the same recipe but using a different hop (solely hopped). From memory they had something like 8-10 different beers. I sampled about 5 of those beers (for hops that I have never brewed with before); I thought that is was a great tasting concept! Cheers!
One question I forgot to ask: Are any the hops I've listed going to be similar enough to each other that the differences might be so subtle that it might not be worth including both?
