My apologies if most of this information is fairly redundent for the locals in PDX.

Stopped by yesterday afternoon around 4:30, and to go great surprise, the tasting room was doing a pretty stong business. Spoke to Wendy for a bit, just to get a feel for what's going on during OBF this year.

    First the good news.

The tasting room just put on a fresh, new batch of blue dot Friday morning, and damn if it isn't pretty tasty (a bit more citrusy and hoppy then some other recent versions I've had of late). They apparently had been out of BD since Tuesday. The current from "the wood" beer is Fred Peach, and I was told that for OBF, Alan S. plans to put on multiple vintages of doggies claws. I asked Wendy if Alan was going to put on anything unusual or unique for OBF this year (like leftover Bob or Cherry Fred during past years), but she indicated she hadn't heard about anything else at this point. So that's the good news...

    The not so good news...

Wendy mentioned that the tasting room has been slammed almost every evening this summer, and that current supplies of Fred and Adam are VERY low in the tasting room. In fact, they're apparently low on everything right now, and as result, at least for now, all growler sales have been suspended.

Anyway, just thought I'd pass on the latest update, for anyone who has included (or plans to include) a visit to the tasting room as part of their July beercation in PDX.

    Cheers!

The HotD tasting room seems to be killing it lately.

My bro was in town last week and I wanted him to try Adam from the Wood. The server said they were all out and I was cursing, but luckily for us halfway through our stay he was able to find one last bottle.

Anyway, just a word of warning that even the vintage bottle menu may not be all available.

That's odd. I ordered a bottle of Adam from the Wood on Saturday, and I even commented that I was a bit surprised that the tasting room hadn't run out yet. There was no mention of them running low on it, and they seemed to have a decent supply of it.

I seem to remember them being out of certain vintage bottles for a day or two at a time before. I thought they died everything on site, but maybe this it's not the case. Our maybe they didn't have any more in the fridge and didn't want to serve one warm. Either way, I'm glad to hear they're not really out if aftw, as I love having regular access to it.

Yes, I wasn't trying to say that they were out of all the AftW in existence. But they don't store all the bottles on site so when things get busy there will be days when they run out of stuff until they can ship in more.

Sounds like no growler fills of the Fred Peach. Any way whatsoever to get any down to CA?
Hoping to plan a trip up there soon. But, don't imagine the Fred Peach will still be around. :stuck_out_tongue:

they never do growler fills of the (____) From the Wood tap as far as i know

and FWIW, i kicked a Peach Fred tap maybe a month ago, so it could be a semi-regular offering.

Yeah, no growlers of Doggie Claws, From the Woods, or other special offerings.

Peach Fred seems to be rotating on fairly frequently. Not sure if that's on account of the season, or just what they have a decent amount of currently.

Just stopped by last night. Currently on tap, 08, 09, 10 and 12 Doggie Claws. Price was the same for all four vintages ($2 for a taster and $5.50 for a 12 ounce glass). Also on tap, Matt! That was a bit more spendy, but still pretty reasonable I thought, when compared to bottle prices at the tasting room ($5 for a taster and $12.50 for a 12 ounce glass).

    Cheers!

Awesome! I'll be making a long detour on my way to Seaside tomorrow afternoon to grab some goods in Portland. Hopefully it will still be pouring...

I don't know about the bottles, but the tap is a work of wondrous gloriousness praised by angels.
