Going to make a two day trip of it from OC for Alpine and then my first stop at Toronado. So the question is: where is a decent place to stay as close as possible to Toronado?

With that, if anyone can recommend any other great places in the area for a beer or to eat, that would be great. As far as proximity goes, so far I have The Ritual Taven, BottleCraft, The Live Wire...and a bit further away, O'Brien's and K'nB.

    Thanks.

You probably should specify which Toronado in your subject line. W/o the "SD", I assumed you were talking about the one in San Francisco - good thing I was bored and clicked through.

Toronado isn't that far from Mission Valley, which has billions and billions of hotels. It is a few miles, and not really walkable because of terrain. Some people that want to be really close stay at the Lafayette.

Only decent hotel within walking distance from Toronado is Lafayette, just a block from Live Wire (amazingly cheap happy hour); Lafayette also has a reasonably good beer selection at their bar downstairs. It's been recently renovated and is quite nice now, though a bit more expensive than it used to be.

From there, you're in easy walking distance to Toronado, Ritual, Live Wire, Small Bar, Tiger! Tiger and Bottlecraft North Park. Hamilton's is a straight shot down 30th (a looooong walk, but I've done it before). In that area when I'm doing the beer crawl, I enjoy the food at URBN (incredibly good New Haven Connecticut-style pizza) and Urban Solace (Southern/New American bistro); both have excellent cocktails and more than respectable beer selections.

Enjoy! That's my favorite part of town to stay overnight when I visit SD.

Monkey Paw and Modern Times are in that general vicinity as well if I'm not mistaken

Damn, any other night I wouldve been able to meet you as its a 4 minute walk from my house. I'll be flying up North that evening right after work; would've loved to put a face to the name. Have a blast, I know Dan and Nate at Toronado will take good care of you.

    Cheers!

If one is in the North Park area, both of those places can be reached by public transit (what a rarity).
