Can anyone recommend hotels in the area?

Assuming it's at the same location as last year I stayed at the Seaport Hotel which joins right with the convention center. No need to even get a taxi as long as you can safely walk across the street.

Depends on where you want to be. Closer to the fest or closer to bars/restaurants you plan to hit after the fest?

Also, download Uber and use that to stay someplace cheap in the city if hotels in Seaport are expensive

Yeah looking for something a little cheaper than the Seaport Hotel. I don't mind having to take a taxi.

Harborside Inn is a little over one mile away (in the Financial District between the Aquarium and Faneuil/Quincy Market) and you should be able to get a decent room for under $200/night.

And I second using UberX rather than a cab if you'd prefer not to walk.

A good bet is to book a cheapish (in Boston, that means $200 or less) hotel room once you buy tickets, but make sure it's refundable. As we get closer to the event and you're 100% positive you'll be attending, start hitting up Hotwire and Priceline to find the best deals. Both websites allow you to search by zone, so you can narrow your search to where you want to be. If you get a deal, cancel the initial hotel room. If not, be happy with what you have.

I find that the Renaissance is often the cheapest hotel in the Seaport district in Boston. Have gotten rooms under $200 and it is a block away. I wouldn't suggest staying in a truly "cheap" Boston hotel, as there really is no such thing and if you find one, you may not like the neighborhood. Factor transportation and parking into the bigger picture price wise.

    Thanks everyone.

So my friend managed to find a room at the Seaport Hotel for $189. Not bad! Definitely don't have to worry about getting back to the hotel after all those crazy beers.

I stayed at the Residence Inn Seaport last year - about a 5 minute walk to EBF but only about 5 steps from Trillium...pretty sure it was just under $200

I've got Seaport reserved for the time being, albeit at $256 a night for 3 nights. I guess the idea is to lock in something for now, and continue to try and find a better deal/price.

Seaport at $189 would be nice, well done.

Was that one listed at $129/night, and 95% recommended? If so, I may just book that one as well...

We are just staying at right at Seaport Hotel...Harpoon and Trillium are couple minutes walking distance. Think we ended up around $190/night. Nice to be right there in my opinion. Plus Quincy market is walking distance for Saturday morning activities. That place rocks

Even at 190, I'd be ok. I'm at market price right now, on my reservation. I prefer to stay at Seaport, but I'd also prefer to be under 200 a night, as well.

Renaissance tends to be the best deal. It's next door. 2 minute walk to the World Trade. Slightly less nice than the Seaport, but still a very nice business class hotel. You guys all realize that Harpoon is also just down the street...closer than Trillium.

I've never used Hotwire before. It's not going to scam me out of money, correct?

It's not going to scam you, but you do need to do some research to make sure you get something you'll be happy with. It's a blind bid, so you can get surprised.

Ended up with Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. Looks like a pretty nice place and close to (mostly) everything I'd like to see while I am there.

I use Hotwire on every beer advocate fest. Just look at number of stars and 'seaport area hotel' you will be fine. I've done it a bunch. One time even ended up up at the seaport hotel itself for 135
