We're hosting a party for some German and US friends and I'm wondering what beer is typically enjoyed by the locals? These folks aren't BA types. Should I stick with the best local/regional beers?

    Your advice appriciated!

I bet that most drank the Augustiner, Wulle & the pilsner from Schwaben..

I, personally, would have grabbed a Masskrug and stuck with the Augustiner, too. Not supposed to mix beers in a session; gives you a headache.

Where did you get the Vitus and Korbinian? At a normal Getränkemarkt? Never seen them anywhere.
I don't like the Schwaben Bräu beers, but if you're in that region, they are probably popular for non-beer geeks.

I had the Schwaben unfiltered pilsner a while back and it was nice. Not super fresh, but interesting for sure. Otherwise I agree with @danfue the rest is fairly forgettable.

I like the Schwaben Märzen, it is always a delight to drink in my opinion.

Ja, the Vitus and Korbinian came from my usual Getränkemarkt. I quite enjoyed both.

I don't mind the Schwaben beers, they aren't so bad. I would have suggested Rothaus Pils had I seen this thread in time.

Have any of the locals/Germans tried the IPAs you brought? If so, what were their thoughts?

I tired a couple of those when I first arrived here, but they didn't app real to my palette at the time. Perhaps I should give it another go soon...

It's hit and miss - half of the locals are interested in another and the other half choose a pils for the next round. Every local who like the La Cumber IPA is flat out shocked to learn the are several German companies making em.

Looks like a great party, but if you don't mind me asking: what was the general beer distribution that people chose to drink? In other words, did most people drink the "safe" options (Schwaben, etc.) or did they go for the most "unusual" choices (Weihensetephaner, etc.) instead? Thanks!

It was pretty much half went for the safe option and half hit the non-traditional. Except for the girls, they mostly went for wine.
