Just wanted to let everyone about the event we're having next Tuesday on 11/13 at WFM Kirby for Houston Beer Week. Brewmasters and founders from Karbach, St Arnold, Southern Star, No Label, Leprechaun, and Real Ale are all attending. There will be a panel discussion that starts promptly at 7:00pm. Every brewery is bringing something special, and I will be tapping some special kegs to take the event over the top (*cough cough* 120, anyone?). It's a free event, but the first 30 people who sign up will be able to purchase a flight of all of the local beers starting at 6:30pm. Once the panel discussion ends, the taps will be open for full pours and growler fills. I don't want to spill the beans on what we'll be tapping, just know that this is an event that will be worth your time (especially if you bring a growler or three).
For how close Houston Beer Week is (next week), I'm surprised about the lack of posts about it. I'm looking forward to this event the most because it means I get to walk home after getting plastered
This sounds like a good time, but I'm sure I'll still be hungover from the Petrol/Beaver's dinner and exhausted after a long day of work. Hmmm... maybe I'll just stop by for a growler fill on the way home.
The Guest Service desk at the front of the store has the sign up sheet. You can call and have your name placed on the list. We just got an awesome new patio on the Kirby Dr. side of the store--that is where the panel will be.
So I've got a ton of people BMing asking what we're tapping for the event and I'm terrible at keeping secrets, so here is all the local stuff we'll be tapping: Real Ale Barrel-Aged 15th Anniversary Real Ale Highlander St Arnold Divine Reserve 12 (cask) St Arnold Pumpkinator Karbach Yule Shoot Your Eye Out (cask) Karbach Bourbon Barrel Hellfighter Leprechaun Strawberry Cider Southern Star Dry-Hopped Pine Belt (cask) No Label TBA There will be growler fills allowed on everything after the panel discussion is over (probably 8:00-8:30 ish). Depending on how fast some kegs go I might tap some other stuff (and there will definitely be at least two other rare non-local beers on tap).
Barrel Aged 15 and BBA Hellfighter would be worth sitting in line for a growler fill not to mention Pumpkinator. Oh damn I wish I had more stout drinking friends.
Just letting everyone know that the list for flights (30 max) is nearly full. If you are attending and wanted to purchase a full flight, I'd suggest coming or calling in to sign up ASAP
bade ass event, real ale 15 BBA is AMAZING!!!! made me sad that a bunch of us chose it over BBA Hellfighter, seriously got 4 growlers knowing I can only drink 3
The opportunity to interact with the brewers was amazing and the beers were great too. I was very surprised at how good the real ale beers were.
For those that didn't attend, that was one of the best beer events I've ever been to. Its funny what brewers will talk about once they've pounded BA 15th a few times *cough*Brock*cough*
Great event, really enjoyed the BBA Hellfighter, first time to try it. The wine BA scotch ale from Real Ale was great too, smelled amazing. Overlooked by many, the pretzels by the register were delicious as well.
