I have a friend heading to houston this monday and was wondering which breweries or bottle shops would you recommend? Thanks!
Houston Breweries - Karbach (Hop Delusion, Rodeo Clown, Weisse Versa), Buffalo Bayou Brewing (More Cowbell), St. Arnold (Fresh Endeavor bottles 6-11) Other stuff you cant get in Florida that you cant really go wrong with - Hops and Grain (Zoe is fantastic), Austin Beerworks, Jester King. All Austin breweries. Even though a lot of people have issues with Specs because its the big chain the Specs downtown (midtown on Smith st) has an outstanding selection only rivaled by D&Q Mini Mart. Those two places are really the only spots you need to go. Can get everything you want and more from those. If he wants to bring some Florida stuff I would be open to some trades. Good luck!
As far as bottle shops, like Hookemhops said, def dowtown Specs and D&Q. If he is going to be here through the weekend, he should go to Karbach Friday evening and Buffalo Bayou saturday.
Pick up some Karbach Hop Delusion if possible right now. Local Houston area breweries that bottle/can are Saint Arnold, Karbach, Southern Star, No Label and Fort Bend... all have easy to find beers. As said above.. if he likes sours... Jester King. There is also some Prairie Artisan Ale that might be around out of Oklahoma.
