Bought my first Sammie Smith Oatmeal Stout at a Dead show in either '91 or '92 and had the same reaction. I was in college, so I had plenty of things to compare it with (i.e., cheap AALs).

Between the Oaties, SNPAs, and Yuengling porters I started drinking at around the same time, I became a changed human being.
