If I am getting local beer around here it is usually in a growler. If not a growler usually a few 22oz bottles.

I've been in "the lifestyle" for around 4 months, and there's so much I want to try that I haven't tried yet, so I tend to buy mixed sixers and bombers. I make the occasional exception for something I try and love, i.e. Founder RIS, or something rare that I'm willing to "gamble" on, i.e. KBS.

[quote=" I buy mostly bombers/750's because I like to try different styles. I also homebrew so for everyday type beers I typically have about 5 gallons at a time.[/quote]

Same here...don't buy a lot of six packs of stuff like SNPA or whatevs because my fridge is usually stocked with my own pale ales. I leave the beer store every week or two with something like a Rochefort 10, a bomber from Foothills, and a four pack or six pack of some awesome seasonal like hopslam or FBS or whatever is out. But yeah, everyday drinking is my own stuff.

Lately, it's been growlers and half-growlers from the locals here in Indy, mainly Sun King and Flat 12.

I mainly buy beers I have never tried before. Singles are preferable but I will buy bigger bottles if that is the only format the beer comes in. I usually buy a good amount at a time just so I can have a selection to choose from. With my tax return money I went a bit beer crazy and I have a pretty big backlog of beer that I am slowly working on.

4/6/12 of my favorites from 2 different bottle shops with occasional singles to try something new like this awesome Mikkeller I Beat You IIPA, so freaking good. Cheers! :grinning:

Being in Philly it's cases most times. Over the bridge to buy singles and sixes and 25oz. Whole foods near my me also sells growlers and has a small bottle shop.

I'm still too much into trying new brews to just get a case of one thing, otherwise I would agree cases are the best bet in this city. But from now on I'm basically going to suck it up and head to Vintage Estates in Boardman every six weeks or so. The $14 I spend on gas and tolls is still half of what I'll save on all my purchases since everything is at least 25% to a third cheaper over there in Ohio.

There are a couple stores around here that'll let you mix six packs, so I mostly do that. I like variety and so I rarely buy 6-12 packs or larger, and when I do it's almost exclusively variety packs. The occasional bomber or two rounds out my fridge.

I usually buy a ratio of 2 bombers to one 6 pack.

I seem to be one of the only growler guys here so far. Until Fathead's has readily available 4 packs of Head Hunter and Hop Juju (which should be fairly soon) I'll keep filling my growlers. I usually open a growler, fill a 32oz flip top with half, and drink the other half. That way I can save the second half for days, and it's always still perfectly carbonated. I pick up a few random bombers and singles too, but almost never buy a case.

I tend to mostly buy bombers and singles. I have a budget I try to stick to so I do a bit of shopping before I decide that I really want something.

All formats except for single 12ozers, because none of the stores I frequent ever have many/any singles available.

If you promise not to tell me that bombers are a more costly format per ounce, I'll promise not to tell you that your focus on cost differentials is crabbed and unseemly. This message has been brought to you by the National Council of My Favorite Brewery Only Markets Bombers.

Usually singles but lately returning to sixers.

Bombers on occassion when the beer I want is only offered via that style (such as anything Funkwerks).

I buy as I see it for convenience's sake and as my budget allows. Sometimes a six, sometimes a single - like I said, it depends on the budget.
