This is true. I mean knowing what one likes on a broad spectrum, providing stylistic guidance while buying beer. If you know you like IPAs, why not try as many as possible?

I generally look for stuff I haven't had before first, then whatever I'm in the mood for, then long time favorites.

Generally I go with an idea of a bottle or two I want and the walk up and down the isles 15 times until I decide. I also usually go every other week(ish) unless I know somethings coming out I want to get my hands on

Buy whichever one comes with a free bottle opener or a koozie.

I make my choices by bottle dates, price, and an I-phone to lookup reviews on un-knowns

seriously, I usually have a certain beer or style in mind but sometimes I stray away from it.
I really go crazy with new arrivals.

I generally go in with a style in mind...and then seek out a) notable beers I've read about, b) something I haven't had before (guided by name/label art/BA lookup) or c) an old-standby

When I dont head in with an idea, I always go to the seasonal section and see what sparks my interest. im getting burned out of IPAs lately, so Ive been going into the Ambers, Belgian, and porter/stout section.

    My normal routine:
    1) grab pint of something on draft
    2) peruse Belgian sour section
    3) search local section
    4) search the new arrival area
    5) pick through the local year round area
    6) leave if nothing sparks my fancy

as for new beers, Ill usually grab one if its a nationally known brewery. Otherwise, the beer better sound interesting. If the ingredients are on the label, and they sound interesting, then Ill take it.

Depends. I usually go in with one thing in mind and leave with that, plus five others.

A lot of the time I have a particular beer in mind, but several plan Bs if necessary. However, if I'm at a really good specialty shop, then I just look at everything, and take my sweet time, finding the best beer for the moment.

I mix 6 packs like a pro. That is the main source of my new ticks. I always buy stuff I have never reviewed before.

I begin by drawing the sigil of the gateway upon the floor then request that Cthulhu enter my body. He's got really great taste in beer, especially Imperial Stouts. Only problem is it needs to be fairly fresh as I need to wait a bit for the taste of blood and souls to fade.
