I think you might be onto something. I remember having "jello shots" in the past. That suggests that you could make a pudding of the ingredients and serve in a bowl. Off the topic but beer/food related. In the early 70s we served a "beer breakfast" to some friends. Ale batter pancakes, and drip coffee brewed from heated Ballantine Ale. Nobody complained too loudly.

Used to really enjoy pumpkin beers when I first started drinking craft beer - Stegmaier, Spring House, Lancaster, etc. Haven’t had too many the last few years though. But might have to grab a 4/6 pack if I see one that sounds interesting.

I think pumpkin beers are no different than any other style. Some great, some good, some bad and a lot of meh. Depends on how hard the brewer tries and your personal taste. I like the ones I like a lot and am truly turned off by the rest. For the record here is what I like in descending order:

Heavy Seas - The Greater Pumpkin (far and away the best. All I really need)
Ellicottville - Pumpkinville Latte - Whiskey Barrell Aged
    Schlafly - Pumpkin Ale
    Elysian - Night Owl
    Whole Hog - Pumpkin Ale
Southern Tier - Warlock (not a Pumking fan. At all.)

I agree that excessive spices are not appealing (at least to me), but I actually really like pumpkin beers.

Wasatch black-o-lantern is out now, I've got some in the fridge.

I've probably got eight or nine choices of pumpkin beers between the liquor store and grocery. I'll try every one at least once, and I usually post reviews.

Between pumpkin beers and Octoberfests, I love the fall beer season.

Fwiw I like fruit beers in all their various incantations, so no hating from me on that

If I were so inclined, I'd rail a little on seltzers bc they're taking away shelf space and sometimes they're in variety packs too (which means I won't buy that mixed pack bc I'm not interested in seltzer). Call me a beer snob, it's true. But I'm sticking with beer.

Saw a 6 pack of Lancaster Baked Pumpkin Ale at the local corner store, so grabbed it. Trying to stay under 6% lately when buying beers, but this was one of the ones I really enjoyed back in the day. Hopefully it tastes the same.
