How do you move your beer cellar without ruining it?

I've spent the past 2 years making quite a collection of nice aged beers here in Seattle, but I'm looking at moving to Denver this summer to take a new job. I'm worried that it won't be easy to move my collection of about 50 bottles without paying an outrageous amount to ship them via UPS/FedEx/etc. But putting them on a moving van that will take 2 weeks to cross half the country in the summer heat is an even worse prospect. Has anyone moved a small collection without shipping it? My wife isn't crazy about me putting it in the car when we eventually make the drive (takes up quite a bit of room esp if we have the dog with us), but I'm thinking that is by far the best idea, since we'd be driving during the day with the AC on and at night the beer would likely live for a few days.

You would need 4 styro wine shippers to send 48 bottles to their new home. Total cost including boxes and shipping is probably under $150. Well worth it for a happy wife on the long drive to Denver.
