Heh. My manager today during a tasting of a local brewery's saison: "Yeah, it's, uh, it's pretty good...yeah, we'll be in touch..."
My manager the instant the rep walks out of the room: "Pfauuugh! I HATE Belgians, I hate them so much!"
(For the record, and to be fair to one of my favorite styles...it wasn't a great saison.)

"I live for new beer, but I do not go out of my way to get it." This. When I go to my two beer stores that have a good singles selection, I try to get as many new beers that I've never had that I'm actually interested in (meaning that I don't buy something I'm not interested in simply because it's new to me, like a boring sounding pils or lager, as they aren't my favorites). That said, I was really interested in a new beer yesterday until I found out it was $15 for a 12 oz. No thanks. I won't do *anything* as I'm not made of money. I ended up with a mixed-six with 3 new to me beers and three favorites, which is actually unusual. I do usually have more new ones than not rather than an even number. I think I had 6 new ones the last time I was there, but oh well. Can't win them all, and I got to enjoy 3 favorites again.

I do try new beers, and it still is a big deal, but I'm not going to extraordinary lengths to get it these days.

Thanks, good insight. If I had unlimited funds and the bug I would try it all if it was possible. Would I do anything does not really mean you would spend your last dime, but you can only use so many words in a poll question.
Though I have made beer trips with folks whod spent way more than they could ever afford too.:grimacing: and some of them lied to their wives about how much they spent after, lol

Very interesting no votes for #1, yet it seems I meet folks at most pubs who do that, but I guess they are not on BA are they?, lol.

If I'm at a bar or party, I'll drink anything I haven't tried first. Then I'll drink something that I know I already like.

I'm more along the lines of "this is a major hobby for me, but I don't necessarily live for it. I do what I can to seek out new beer and attend brewery only releases and the like...but only within reason and if I'm not already in the doghouse" :grimacing:

I've got my "go to" beers available, but there's a wing joint up the street from my home that has jumped in the craft beer scene with both feet. They tap a new keg of various craft every Friday. It's become my regular stop for a cold craft beer every week.

I am reaching the point where I am rather tired of trying new beers, only to find out they don't stack up well to others...of course, I keep buying the new beers...I'm probably about 60% new beers/40% favorites right now.

I Voted for I don't go out of my way for it....Not that it's true. But I just wait for a perfect opportunity to arise to get the beers I want. I don't endlessly search out trades or drive hours anymore. But I still WANT THEM ALL!!
