Not really being sarcastic, I just thought you were implying that there is some kind of flavor that all beer must have to be considered beer or something. If a coffee stout can taste like coffee I don't see a reason an IPA can't taste like fruit juice.

I don't think it has been mentioned yet, but it clearly helps to be in a certain time zone above a certain latitude.

I agree. It's going on hiatus so grab a bunch. I still have a few from 2010 and they are great. If this cane from a small far away place it would be impossible to get.

    Enjoy

    Explain "going on hiatus", please.

    +1.

Burton Baton is my favorite DFH beer. Probably one of the few I actually like.

My bottle has marketing 'stuff' of: "Lush and enjoyable now. Burton Baton ages with the best of 'em".

    Cheers!

Exactly what it means. Check out the 2016 DFH schedule. May release only now.

    Enjoy

If that's true, DFH just fell even further in my mind. Their best beer and now they'll only brew it once a year now? I don't think I have any interest in any of their beers anymore.

    1) Make all your beers unfiltered.
    2) Spread gloating pictures across social media to make people envious.
    3) Make obtaining these beers a near impossible feat.
    4) ?????
    5) Profit!

Step 1: Make it hazy/unfiltered (so it looks like juice)
Step 2: Make it a citrus/tropical fruit bomb (so it tastes like juice)
Step 3: Make sure it has no detectable malt character
Step 4: Make sure it's packaged in 16oz cans
Step 5: Make sure it's brewed in small batches by a small new(er) company
Step 6: Make sure it's not distributed outside the state (or even far from the actual brewery)

Alternatively.....Blend trace amounts of grain alcohol with a large portion of mango, orange, pineapple, passionfruit and grapefruit juices and hop pellets, put it in a can and sell it as beer.

That's awesome news! Please share a few examples of these breweries, I can't wait to try them out.

Yeah, I drop by Singlecut on the way to my in laws. We also get their beer in UNY, so I've had just about everything they offer. Same with OH, but their IPAS are beginning to taste the same to me. If you canned Singlecut and bottled OH, it would be the inverse. Not sure why canning adds hype to a brewery.

I think Union Double Duckpin and Burley Oak Secret Sauce is every bit as good as the NE hype train DIPAs I've had.

To me the really interesting thing is that we all know what we mean by 'tastes like a beer', and yet the beers that drive the hype are the ones that are basically running so far away from that idea as to almost be a different type of beverage.

I don't see how you know this, or how you could even think you know this. At first it seemed you were basing it on reviews, but then somebody said there aren't any reviews. Then it seemed like you were basing it on assumptions about the market in the southern tier of NY, which somebody pointed out weren't true of that market.

As far as I know it could suck or it could be the second coming of, I don't know, Double Sunshine or something, Abner, etc. I would submit that you don't know any more about it than I do, but if I am wrong, tell me how it is that you know?

I'm still waiting for somebody to cut through all the BS and just add grain alcohol to Hawaiian Punch, maybe a teeny amount of hop extract for a little (but not enough to upset the "juicy" dynamic) bitterness.

Basing it on reviews..untappd..this website sucks for reviews now....also I am positive this beer will never ever ever ever be hyped or be on the same planet as double sunshine...now maybe i jumped to conclusions that the IPA market in New york was good...maybe this is a whale there, but its not anywhere else
