I am thinking about picking up some of these bottles but at 40 a bottle that is twice as much money as BCBCS. Is it worth the extra 20?

$40?? I've never seen BA Speedway in stores (or even tried regular Speedway yet), but I've seen in the forums people saying they're going for $30. Probably worth checking elsewhere.

I prefer BCBCS, but BA Speedway is still a very solid beer. But agreed with the above - $40 sounds too much. I traded for it, and the guy who I traded with said he picked it up for $30

Last I paid for BA Speedway it was 20 bucks, maybe thirty. As far as comparison, Speedway has far less coffee but I like them both about the same.

    It doesn't compare.

Barrel aged speedway is a solid barrel aged stout, nothing mind blowing. I dont believe that the coffee is added to the barrel as it is in BCBCS, so you get a lot less coffee.

BCS Coffee is one of the best BA stouts. Crazy amount of coffee when fresh. Tons of bourbon.

As far as the gap in price, bourbon county is by far the best deal in BA stouts. BA Speedway is overpriced and they get away with it because of the rarity.

From what I understand, it's been $30 at the brewery, and distros have been picking some up as well and selling them for $40. That was the case for BA Grand Cru and BA Old Numbskull previously as well.

    BCBCS is much better.

Not asking to sound like a dick, just genuinely curious:

It's a brewery only, order ahead and pick it up in person beer. How are you casually "thinking about picking up some of these bottles"?

It recently hit shelves in Wisconsin (probably elsewhere too) and is going for 35.99 per bottle.

I prefer the special coffee editions of Speedway Stout Like Kopi Luwak, and Vietnamese Coffee even if they don't have any bourbon. Actually, the Bourbon Barrel-aged Kopi was also much better than regular Barrel Aged Speedway!!

$35.99 is a great price. From the recent sale bottles are ~$32 each after you pay the brown paper ticket fee, and can only be picked up at the brewery by the person who purchased them.

I agree with you!! I would much rather avoid a huge line and buy the beer at a Local Store for $35.99!! I hate this brown-paper ticket bullshit!! It adds a significant cost to each beer you purchase!!

I love BPT, no waiting in line and the website is pretty stable. It does however add 3% to the cost of this beer. Also if it was limited and sold at stores it would be gone very quickly.

Huh. Learn something new every day! Are they actually distributing it, or did someone just sort of snag a few bottles and put em up for sale?

It's going for $40 and $42 at the shops in Hudson that OP is referring to.
Not even close to being worth $40, IMO.

lonewolfcry is right is very good but at 40 dollars +
it's just not worth it. There is a lot of other great beers out there for far less money

BA Speedway is solid, but not $40 solid.

BA Speedway tastes better, but BCBCS is probably a better value.
