didnt see it initially. Admittedly, I use the term loosely. Thanks for that

Drink local. Encourage your local brewers to make the beers you enjoy. If it's fresh IPA's, bring a bottle in and share it. In San Diego I never buy east coast IPA's. Don't know how they were shipped, sometimes how old etc... Likewise I don't drink Stone b/c on average, their beers are simply average for the area. There are many other places brewing stellar beer and Stone no longer is setting the bar. Too focused on expasion, growler fill stations, hotels, farms yadda yadda...

Now...when I am in a new place I always seek out IPA's to get them fresh as possible, but that's also called "Visiting a brewery/bar".

Personally, I think the name and marketing with this is a big thumb of the nose to the "drink immediately or drain pour" mentality that's showing up here and other beer sites when it comes to IPAs.

had a glass on tap today and enjoyed it more than the bottle which seemed to have a slightly harsh bitterness. stone seems to be raising their own standards lately in a good way. drinking my bottle of the lowland scotch 15th anniversary right now and it's really damn good.

Ruination 10 was an amazing beer.

It was very nice and hoppy at first with a big malt backbone. By the 1st month, the hops had begun a noticeable fade and the malt body was coming forward quickly. For those states that got it a month after it was released, sucks. At the 2 month mark it was in the discounted cooler at Toronado, might still be there.

What if it is a good beer and doesn't dissapoint? Some people think the Paulaner 1 liters are extreme (an overpriced)

I agree with the concept of relativity regarding "freshness," but try a bottle of your favorite local IPA, 8-12 weeks old, side by side with a fresh bottle, and you'll see the difference.

If you are paying $6.50 a bottle, you are getting a good deal. It is $9.00 here in San Diego County.

While this is definately "hype',I dont think it is intended to be done just to make a buck. Pretty sure Stone has no problem doing that. Think it is just any idea they came up with to reinforce the idea of getting your product to market quicker and not screwing over the customer. They could have called it "hey U.S. distributors of beer stop sitting on our product for two months in a warehouse and get it out on the shelves now" IPA. It's a great idea but they are only sending the beer to 6-8 major markets where they know it will sell quickly. To try and do this with all their beers in every market would be hard to do. Guess if you really want fresh beer it always goes back to drink local.

Funny, I was the opposite in that I enjoyed the bottle more than the glass I had on tap. That's good to hear about the lowland. I enjoyed the highland and I have a bottle of lowland waiting for me.
