Regularly for me is about 45 minutes each way to the best beer store on the south shore. I usually combine it with some other errands. I did recently make a 3 hour trip each way from my family's place to visit Sly Fox and stock up. After doing it once, I would definitely consider doing the trip a couple times a year.

I've gone almost 4 hours for Central Waters Anniversary party. That was fun.

    3+ hours to Toppling Goliath.
The only ones over a 1 hour drive in my region that's actually worth it to me - but only for the whalez, bro :sunglasses:

Edit: Forgot about CW Anniversary party (not attending this year).
That was almost 4 hours, but we stayed over, so not as an inconvenient drive.

Yeah, i've been trying to convince myself to drive up there after Bix..but I usually hang out in Davenport for a few hours after the race instead. QC has a couple really good breweries..the best being Bent River and Great River I think. Great River is always really fun right after the race.

Yes. My wife ran it the past two years, and I swing by great river as I go to watch the finish line. Davenport is a good time and I go to GR quite often. I enjoy Bent River Jingle Java.

Regularly (once a month or so) is Kane which is about an hour trip. Doesn't hurt that Carton is on the route home though.

Semi regularly the furthest I go is Tired Hands...bout a 2 hour trip one way.

Closest beer store with good selection is about an hour away. Occasionally (2-5x per year) drive 3-5 hours to visit a brewery for a release or to attend a beer fest.

I am pretty lucky. I am within 40 minutes of Kane and Carton at my apartment. My parents house is within 15 minutes of Cape May Brewing and Tuckahoe. And my gfs is within 25 minutes of Tired Hands, Forest and Main and 30 minutes from Philly.

Edit: I took the trip up to Waterbury/Hill Farmstead with a friend about 2 months ago. Would do it again.

Some other places that I would combine a vacation and brewery visits would be california and hopefully Belgium.

Really hope to be inPortland around late July. Will be spending another 6 months on the road We tow a jeep so getting in and around Portland will be no problem. May hit you up for some advice on local breweries as the time gets closer. Right now we are looking at spending at least a week in the area.

In my experience, the distance I am willing to road trip for a beer is inversely related to my age. At 18 when I lived in the middle of Michigan my friends and I thought nothing of driving to Ohio or taking the ferry to Wisconsin for a beer. Now my road trips are usually on my bike.

Right now i find myself taking a lot of trips to trillium which is about 45 minutes without traffic. its just really hard to find a time where there is no traffic. And then it takes another 15 minutes just to find a parking spot.

Id be willing to start taking a few road trips up to maine, hitting up places in NH and Vermont on the way too and from. Its just hard to find people that like beer enough to make the trip with me as just me driving would be too much. Long car drives put me to sleep lol

I go to Portland/Freeport pretty consistently, I live in Peabody and go to Maine Beer Co, Allagash, Bissell Bros, Oxbow, and Banded-Horn. I also take the short trip to Hampton, NH to check out Smuttynose quite often. Favorite local brewery is Nightshift, haven't made it down to Trillium yet (I hate going into the city). Hit me up if you need a riding partner, I need to get to Treehouse soon!

Back at college (thirty years ago? damn...), road trips were routine, but much less so nowadays. The most I ever hit was when I lived in Boston and hit three brewpubs, two breweries, and a half-dozen beer bars between there and Toronto.

As a hobbyist, I'd say that road trips are a must at some point. A buddy f mine is in his late fifties and still hits four or five every other weekend -- two or three hundred miles, no sweat!

The documentary: "American Beer", is always fun to watch to bring back memories of that road trip. McNeill's! :grinning:
