going to try chocolate rain for the first time this week, but next time you decide to drain pour a hyped brew, why not pour it into a smaller bottle that has a flip top and just send it my way. you would've at least gotten a thank you box in exchange as opposed to a video of pouring a beer down the drain.

some beers, however...don't deserve to be hand bottled...

I did this a little less than 3 months ago and I thought Rare was the better of the two.

We did rare, '10 BT, and PVW DL within a month of each other last year and rare was the unanimous favorite. Majority liked the BT better than the PVW DL too...

I have 3 Rare's and only one CR left. I would probably trade my last CR and a BT 11 for another Rare. I thought it was damn near perfect. Plus it will never be made again.

I've had Rare once and it was the third-best imperial stout at the tasting (after '11 BT and Chocolate Cherry Oil of Aphrodite). The opinion wasn't unanimous but I wasn't alone in thinking that, either. It wasn't bad by any means but I certainly didn't see the hype and wouldn't trade what's necessary to get it at this point. Just another data point.

Finally had my first Rare tonight. Yes is is absolutely that good if not better. Barrel aged imp stouts are my favorites and after my last two being completely let down with Darkness and Dark Lord I was curious as I love BCS. BCS Rare is all that and more. Holy shit good!! I'm so glad I have more! I'd **** and pillage for it! Test me!

Yes, it's THAT good... well, better actually. I'd happily trade that for a Rare if I had the means. The dollar value alone makes it a fair trade.

Rare reminds me a lot of Parabola.
Black Tuesday is one of the best imperial stouts I have ever had.
Chocolate Rain is really good, but I like Black Tuesday better.

That being said, I would not give a CR + BT for a Rare...

I'm not in the Bruery Reserve Society so I need to trade for BT and CR when I want them. They are great beers. I currently would love 1 more of each. Having said that, if I had 10 Rares, I still wouldn't trade one for a CR and BT.. Rare is just too good and will not be made again. Plenty of CR and BT every year. I don't care about rarity and bottle counts, what I care about is the finite supply of Rare meaning the limited # of times I can drink it.

Ofcourse trade value is relative, so just find someone who really wants CR.

While I think are spot on with how good Rare is, I will say that Chocolate Rain is, most likely, the best beer I've ever had. I jumped at the chance to trade for another, and a Black Tuesday(even though I had another BT). I would slot Rare somewhere between Black Tuesday and Parabola. It is an amazing beer that, as you said, will never appear again, but I don't think it's the best of it's style.

That said, I would still trade for another bottle or three if I could.
