You would be surprised. When we see them here, (rare) Drie Fonteinen is usually around 40-50 $ a 750. I have heard some Cantillons go for as high as 60$. I can get them in Cali for 23-25. But folks will suck them up for that price here (hence the rare moniker.) As a lot of BA's here have said, the market will bear what we tolerate. Let them sit for awhile and I assure you the price will come tumbling down. But we know that's not gonna happen....

Fou Foune was $99 at BDBS, but they are out of stock at the moment.

The importer is based 30 minutes from my store and I haven't seen a bottle in years on the shelf. Does that answer your question?

I asked previously what a bottle of say for example fou foune trades for in the states, do you have any ideas?

I'm not an active trader anymore. One way to see what you can trade for is to make a thread in the trading forum here and at Ratebeer. Figure Fou Foune and St. Lam are worth about $50 for a trade. I'm sure someone would be willing to trade 2-3 American sours for a difficult to get Cantillon. The shipping to Norway is expensive which makes the trade less likely to happen.

Yeah I know, was more thinking of bringing some loons over the next time I´m in the states. Thank you for the reply.

That's exactly what I did last time I was visiting the UK and Bruges. Just hopped off in Brussels and went over for a quick visit and some bottles.

I love Gary for a lot of things but he is a ripoff for a few items. Most notably Cantillion.

Don't get me started on Belgianshop...

He isn't. Several years ago sure, but now Shelton has left MN entirely.

That's silly. Just don't buy it. "Problem" solved.

I ordered from the Belgian shop 4 or five years ago and their prices went up by about 3 times since my last order. I think everybody's prices for Cantillon have gone up. Shelton Brothers have ditched Minnesota but we can still get their stuff at the Casanova in Hudson Wisconsin. Occasionally old bottles can be found at various retailers.

There is a lot of really good stuff now made in the US that is certainly worth trying out and it costs a hell of a lot less than my first car did (unlike the current prices for Cantillon)

Shelton Brothers handles Cantillon's distribution in the U.S. A couple years ago they had a conflict with J.J. Taylor, their Minnesota partner, and no longer distribute anything in Minnesota. If Cantillon is ever on the shelves in this state, it isn't here legally.

That's the same reason you haven't seen Jolly Pumpkin, Mikkeller, and a number of other brands here for a few years. Their complete portfolio:
