How is Usefulness sorted?

    Just curious if any light can be shed on a beer's rating page that is defaulted to the usefulness sorting. I noticed that ratings (not reviews) are not in chronological order, so it got me wondering how usefulness was calculated.

    Is this a proprietary algorithm that can't be revealed, or can there be some info on this?

    Basically, I'd like to know why a certain users 3.75/5 rating is higher on the page than another users 3.75/5


    Has beer karma been added to the equation (yet)?

    The default view is Usefulness, which is ordered by review (useful) votes, then date.

    That's it.
