I bought an ESB kit thinking I was going to be able to do it this weekend but some stuff for work came up and wont be getting to it for 2 weeks is the kit ruined or can it wait that long?

The kit should be fine. I would put the hops in the fridge to help keep them fresh. If you have any milled grains in the kit make sure they are wrapped tight because they can lose freshness fairly quick.

Everything came in sealed up bags

Hops in the freezer. Yeast and grains in the fridge. If it is a fresh kit two weeks won't make a difference. It will be fine.

Judging from my LHBS that is no longer in business, I'd say 10-15 years is safe (ISH).

My first beer was a kit and I waited 9 months before I brewed it. The beer was nice.
