I definitely agree with that, but this guys beer is two years old, I believe Jever dates their beers out 15 months. Makes one certainly wonder.

If life is that short, well, not sure what to say--but would hate to go out on that note.

When someone stops by and leaves beer I don’t particularly care for, I keep them around for cooking. As mentioned above, steamed seafood is a great use, especially crab legs. Also, when I make a pot of chili, I always toss in a beer.

    I’d never cook with a beer I wouldn’t drink.

    Period.

    YMMV

A very good point. Usually the beer imparts some flavor to the food, so consider that.

I'm really afraid that the OP drank the beer and didn't make it.

    RIP, Mr Creepycrawler.

Not that big a loss toss it out and get new stuff. Or if your not wanting to waste chill a few bottles and taste it.

How about Dankwood still in cases at my local bev center? Presumably from last fall.

If it doesn't stink . . . drink it. Then have a double shot of Buffalo Trace bourbon to kill any potential germs.

Joke 1: This would presume LandShark is a good beer to begin with.
Joke 2: Beer never lasts long enough to get to room temp anyway around my place...:grin::sunglasses:

Now, presuming the OP is still around and wasn't frightened off....
beer will generally last a good length of time as long as the temps are stable. Yes, especially hoppy beers will lose the freshness and hop flavor and aroma, but they are still drinkable.
Some beers will age well over time - but a light lager like that probably not.
Only way to know is open one and take a drink - there's nothing that can live in beer that will hurt you. If it's bad, dump it, no loss. If it's good - go to town.

You mean you presume Landshark is a beer? As a Parrothead, I was so disappointed when Jimmy's corporation decided to partner with InBev.

The Land Shark deal in 2007 was pre-AB/InBev merger - so Buffett's corporation made the initial deal with the independent Anheuser-Busch.

Previously, Buffett had been sponsored by Corona beer brewed by Grupo Modelo, which at the time of the creation of Land Shark was 50% owned by Anheuser-Busch. So, I guess, "only" half owned by AB was less of a sellout?

Don't think you will get sick from it. Just think a lot of flavor and aroma might be diminished. I agree put one of each in the fridge and drink them and see how they are.

As a guy who loves to cook I’m always surprised on the advice to cook with a beer that you don’t think fit to drink. Why put into food a subpar component? I’d pour out any beer not fit to drink and be done with it.

I love cooking a Beer Cheese Fondue with some left over beer in the fridge. Don't let it go to waste.

I once cooked with a beer that I didn't enjoy and ended up tossing the meal away, never again.

Recently cracked a 3 year old can of Oskar Blues Beerito that had been at basement temp (fluctuating between 65-75 though usually right around 68). After it was done foaming to all hell, it just tasted like an overly malty beer. Nothing particularly bad about it but nothing particularly good.
