Isn't shipping beer illegal without a license? Last time I checked you cannot ship out of country legally without a license? Besides we all know the OP is not doing this, but lets all play along. Does anyone here actually think you can walk over to the docks and just toss beer into a container and say hey I will snag on the other side, lol ya ok.

    Cheers

I work on the commercial side so everyone has a license but if the beer is part of a larger order and packed in a crate then you can get away with it, assuming they don’t look into the crate. I don’t know whou would have to use a company that picks it up from you and adds it to their shipment. One thing about shipping to Brazil is they have their own rules and regs. Plus, a lot of illegal stuff goes on over there. So Brazil is a crap shoot. I had a customer shipping t/-shirts to Brazil and they had a high “lost” rate. We joked that the post guy was probably wearing their shirts.

But yeah I am going to assume this is just for shits and giggles.

No matter what anyone tells you, longer.

Beer cellars are largely self-masturbatory dens of feckless pomp. Keep your beer cold and you'll be surprised how long it can last.

Exactly, no one would consider doing this and most companies would not give a person the time of day. It was an interesting topic though, original to say the least.:beers:

Yup. Worked with a guy who filled an entire shipping container with his extended family's belongings (mother died, etc) from Croatia back to his home in NJ. At the same time, I hired a moving company to move most of my household belongings (damn right I moved the beer cellar and my stereo, records and cds myself) about 25 miles south of my former home in the next county. As I remember it, the two bills were about the same.

Granted, I paid for the movers to load and unload the truck, but packed the boxes myself. He probably loaded the container himself and, IIRC, had a relative who did that work pick up the container at the docks. But, still... Ocean shipping via container is cheap in the right circumstances. Otherwise Heineken wouldn't be one of the largest selling beers in the US - and cheaper than it used to be, compared to domestic AAL's.

Not sure about exporting (that'd probably be up to Brazil or whatever other country one is going to) but as for bringing alcohol into the US for personal use, the TTB says:
And US Customs doesn't require a license:

Ok looks like I need to add a bit. Going to be shipping stuff to Brazil anyway so figuring on adding 5 or 6 cases sam Adams summer ale is nice and I enjoy it thought I would send some. Beer in Brazil is ok some better then others to be honest not much alchohol (drank all day and not much of a buzz, and I don't drink alot of beer)but they had a few pretty good beers, again just thinking out loud. Thanks for all your responses

With that profile name, what if that dude never asks another question on this site? I think that would be awesome.

I'm the OP, was going to ship a 20ft container with personal belongings for my summer home in Brazil and thought I'd toss in some sam Adams. Figure it's worth a shot beer over there is ok, but again some summer ale sitting on the beach would be cool

Exactly. Brazil is like a universe. My neighbors are Brazilian and it sounds utterly fascinating, diverse, and a great piece of travel experience.

See if the OP has room in that container. FREE TRIP!

(And, maybe, all the SASA you can drink (as long as that's under 6 cases).

As an aside, I would highly recommend reading Candace Millard''s The River of Doubt. It is an exposition of the Teddy Roosevelt expedition to Brazil in 1913. It is harrowing. There is a tributary to the Amazon named Rio Roosevelt that he basically discovered.

Honestly I think the post is a joke of some sort, who in their right mind ships SA by boat to Brazil? Odds are in bigger cities they might have SA for sale anyway. Too bizzare to be a legit question.
