Okay so I just got two bottles of Permanent Funeral as a gift from a friend of my dad. Knowing that this is rare I want to save it for certain occasions. One of which is my birthday on Halloween. My question is does this age well or is it way better fresh? It came from the brewery 4 days ago.

Should be good for several months if kept in the fridge.

It's not rare. Don't save it, drink fresh. It should still be very good for Halloween, but it doesn't age well after more than a few months.

Personally, I would keep it just long enough to locate a bottle opener and glass. I won't be overly dramatic and say it will be terrible if you hold off until Halloween to drink it but you really are not doing yourself any favors by holding on to it for any extended period of time.

Dude, it's way better fresh. Completely. The monster rare-ness factor on this bitchin' brew cannot compete with the in-your-f*cking-face hop power contained in that bottle.

So is that a vote to drink it?

Drove two hours to the brewery last Friday hoping to score some Dreadnought and Zombie Dust, but they were sold out by the time I got there. Picked up a few bombers of this Permanent Funeral stuff instead. Was not disappointed. A tidal wave of fresh hoppy goodness from the first sip. Might have to go back down and get some more this Friday.

I don't know man. How else can I vote? Is not drinking it a choice?

Every time a Permanent Funeral is opened, an angel has an orgasm. Seriously though, the general rule with IPA's is that freshness is king. That being said, the only PF I've had was about 3 months old and I still consider it in my top 5 beers of all time. And the smell still haunts my dreams. I can only imagine what it tastes like fresh. Probably melt your face off...in a good way.

Drinking one sitting outside in Schaumburg right now. Fan-fing-tasic. Drink them now. They will never be better than right this second..... Pick up some fresh ZD the week before Halloween.

LOL no prob, bro! Just trying to look out for you here since that's a beer that was bottled in early September. Waiting another month to open it just means another month for the cray grapefruity goodness to escape into the ether. But you should feel free to ruin your beer however you like, man!

    Cheers!

I would keep it up to 4 months or so in the fridge. The sooner the better though.
