How long do you let a beer thats been sitting sideways for awhile sit upright before opening it lol?

well you have to tip it sideways to pour it, so why waste precious time tipping it upright? just hold it over a glass and open it!

Its a pretty good question. If i need to lay a bottle sideways, its like a day or two i can't speak though on on long until sediment lays flat on the inside. Ive never experienced that.

If it's bottled conditioned, I usually sit it upright for 2 days. If you don't then you might have a lot of yeast sediment which some find unpleasant like I do.

Sometimes even days aren't enough if there is a crazy amount of sediment. I had a bottle of Mikkeller that was sent to me through a beer club on its side. It was upright for a good week before I opened it and there was still quite a bit of goop in the neck of the bottle. I just rotated the bottle and poured out of the other side and got some clear beer.

Best bet is to just keep an eye on it. The great thing about glass is you can see through it to check the clarity and sediment.

I thought I read 24 hours would be enough for sediment to settle. I would try giving the bottle a couple "spins" (sitting the bottom of the bottle on the counter and spinning it in palms of hands) to free up any sediment that might be present higher up in the neck/side of bottle. I've never done this, but I'm guessing it would be just enough motion between the beer & glass of the bottle to free up any sediment.
