Tried the Gone Away last night & really liked it. But not quite on the level of Trillium or Tree House. I'd still trade for it again though.

Please provide proof of this "1000 cases of cans a week."

I didn't say they weren't making money, just that they are taking a bigger hit on ingredient cost than the big guys could afford to take.

I really like Gone Away, but I don't think that's even in Half Acre's top 3 hoppy offerings. I'd say Beer Hates Astronauts (my favorite citra beer), Navaja (certain batches) and Galactic Double Daisy Cutter are all better. Then again, Navaja is the only one of those 3 that pops up more than once a year, and it differs from batch to batch, so I suppose there's that.

I guess im different than alot of people. I have seen beers i have liked go from small batch, hard to get, to being more available And seen breweries go from micro/craft to more nationwide distro. when breweries scale up majority of the time the beer is what is damaged. granted there are and could be ones that bet these odds but majority the time they dont.

Plus as much as i hate waiting in lines for example Fiddlehead, Any alchemist offering, Dinner, 2 roads special releases (igors, sourcopia's), OEC experimentalis, New england (ducks, barrel aged stout trooper) It actually is part of the fun for me getting the beer. Most of these have bottle share areas where I have got to try beers i never would have gotten my hands on an never would have met some of the people i know in the community.

Twitter last week for treehouse showed the following:
    1/19 - 575 cases Eureka w/ Citra
    1/20 - 500 cases Sap
    1/21 - 500 cases Julius
    1/22 - 215 cases Doppelganger
1/23 - Sold out of all beer

Last week was a four canning run so it was more than normal (usually it is three) but I think it is safe to say that they do AT LEAST 1000 cases of cans each week.

I know this might come as a shock to the OP and others, but Treehouse didn't invent the style of beer they make, and up until they expanded and most of their IPAs went south, Hill Farmstead was making significantly better hoppy beers. Other places like Alchemist, Tired Hands, etc. make hoppy beers that are as good as, if not better, than what Treehouse makes. The amazing thing about Treehouse to me is that the stouts of theirs I've had are unbelievable. Good Morning is the best beer I've had in a good long while. Far more worthy of hype than their hoppy stuff, which has a sweet finish that I don't really care for.

Being able to make world-class beers across a range of styles is what impresses me about Treehouse, but they're not the only ones doing it. They're just the hot brewery at the moment, but I don't think they need to be "replicated." Plenty of beer is out there that is just as good.

It's on their website when they show what's available, it's probably quite a bit more than 1000. They post 3-4 canning runs a week. Most canning runs are ~500 cases. Some special beers have been closer to 250 but most are around 500.

I've only had Tesseract & I definitely thought it was on the level of Tree House. However, you cannot find their hoppy stuff around Boston. Easier for me to get Tree House.

I may be in the minority here, but I think Galaxy Dry Hopped Fort Point Pale Ale is the best hoppy beer coming out of MA. Frankly, I'm astonished that it didn't get more love in the trade forums.

I agree, as was Lambo Door out of this world. While I do prefer Grimm, I think Grimm, OH, and Singlecut all have damn fine offerings and am happy we have access to all three in the wonderful city of New York.

OP is looking for a brewery that both replicates Treehouse and distributes widely. With Treehouse not distributing widely, I saw it as being unfair to ask for replicating both the quality and being able to widely distribute, not an east feat to accomplish. To level the playing field, I went with Grimm as the quality is top notch, despite the fact that distribution isn't widespread. Can you name a brewery that is anywhere near the quality of Treehouse, Grimm, OH, Russian River, Alchemist, or Trillium with widespread distribution? I think not. But MBC and Allagash have lots of solid offerings with distribution along the east coast - while amazing breweries, I just don't think they are quite on par with the level of quality. Perhaps they can lead by example for the other breweries mentioned to further distribution. That would make lots of beer drinkers very VERY happy.

Grimm doesn't have a taproom as previous poster mentioned. However, I highly recommend taking the trip to Singlecut when you're in town as well. Looks far but the subway ride is pretty easy out there. Awesome vibe. Great music - they played Led Zep IV in entirety upon my last visit. And some good food to indulge in while you imbibe. Also the employees are very friendly and knowledgeable - spoke to one of the guys for close to half an hour after taking the brewery tour about brewing in general.

If you're interested in hitting up some other local breweries, check out Three's (walking distance from Other Half) and Finback. Three's has a rotating guest restaurant every month - if you're lucky they may have Roberta's when you're in town. Haven't been out to Finback myself but they produce some great brews as well.

I've only been going to Trillium since they opened the Canton location (I hate going down town for anything) so I haven't had those yet. But Canton is really easy from my office so when those come out, I will be getting them.
