I tend to rate about 3 beers per night. Somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd 12 ounce bottle, the alcohol starts to do its magic and my senses start to dull. I can rate more when doing 2-3 ounce flights. How do others feel about this topic?

I usually only do one because I like to rate things on as clean a palate as possible. Whale tastings sometimes force me out of this comfort zone though.

I score everything, but I make note of inebriation or fatigue if I think it's affecting me, and—more objectively—I also record dates, quantities and order of consumption.

I will "rate" (meaning in my notes) at most 2 on a single session. I will not post a review on this site until I have had the beer at least twice on 2 different occasions, and the second time for the review, the beer will be the first beer of the evening.

I have, on occasion, had two "simultaneously" if I was doing a compare. For example, Bent Paddle 14° ESB side-by-side with Fuller Smith & Turner ESB, for a comparison of the Bent Paddle against the closest I could come here in MN to the style "standard", but in that case (and in a couple of others like that) I had already independently rated/reviewed the beers.

Usually no more than 2 over the course of an evening, although weekends could sometimes be three over the course of more hours than if a weeknight. Also, if I'm not in the right state of mind to review (party, no availability of glassware, alcohol has already worked it's magic), then I'll usually make a note of the beer and mark it as a "had" but will try to come back and give it a review in the future, when the circumstances are more appropriate for a full review.

Totally in the same mindset as the OP. I never review more than 3 in a night because, if I try to do a fourth, it becomes too difficult since I'm already buzzed and my palate is most likely a bit fatigued.

    Review - usually 1-2.

Rate/Tick - much, much more. Have a lot of old tasting notes too.

Just one. But I have about a half dozen with notes - haven't gotten around to writing up a full review… yet.

I typically do only one review per night since the first beer always has a carry over effect on the second one. Sometimes the effect is subtle, but it is there.

Typically I review the 3rd bottle from a 4 or 6 pack so I have better sense of what to expect and a check on myself.

The only time I review the first bottle/pint is when I expect it will also be the last one either for a long time or forever.

I've tried both rating and reviewing and prefer reviewing as it give me better memory for why I like or don't like a particular beer when I do see it again and have a chance to drink it.

For me rating only is basically just a small step above simple ticking for the count.

I don't rate any more for a variety of reasons (such as not liking taking notes in the pub!) but my feeling that it's impossible to do justice to more than a couple. Firstly because many beers don't reveal their true colours until quite a lot gets drunk and secondly because the impression of any subsequent beer is modified by what's been tasted previously and it takes a fair amount for an honest judgement to be made. After a couple have been exhaustively examined one's palate is suspect through fatigue.
I've been a beer judge many times and sometimes had 10 beers in front of me. I give it my best efforts but am not happy with how thorough an assessment is possible in competitions.

Between 20 and 150 depending on the bottle share.

On a crazy night I'll do 3 or more. I generally do about 5 each weekend, so about 1-2 per day from Fri-Sun

I will have, maybe, two or three different beers in a sitting, but I don't post them at the time...then I forget, and have to play catch -up. Really behind now, thinking I will just reboot and start over.

I do a tasting with a couple other buddies every couple weeks. We usually chop up three or so bombers. We will always try the beers we havent had first. Seems to be the capper for us.

I rate 1 beer a session. No need to do more then that at a time because mixing beers could lead to a poor review.

Anytime I drink a beer I haven't already rated, I rate it, regardless of my current condition or other factors. If I have that beer again and find it better/worse than my original experience, I can always go back and change my rating.

When doing full beers, 2-3. If I am at a tasting or getting flights....I will do a lot more. I tend to revisit beers and adjust ratings as needed also.

I generally rate about two per sitting, but it also depends on availability and where I happen to be at the time. If the place only has AALs and a couple standard seasonals that I've already tried, then I'm out of luck. But if I happen to be somewhere special, where I know I won't be back again (or at least not anytime soon), I'll try to rate as many as my brain (and my steadily inebriated body) can muster.

I usually rate three beer at a time. But it depends on the alcohol content. And when I drink more than three I pair it with food.
