2-6 brands limited storage. Beers into the fridge right before drinking, although there's always a few Shiners inside there 'cause the Missus likes them, too.

BUT, you have to be willing to clean them, probably for the first time...ever.

I guess my experience may differ, I live right by the Ivy League Dartmouth College, usually I just clean out the Perrier and caviar containers. The students think I'm homeless because I don't drive a Mercedes and give me cash handouts too.

I usually have around 60-80 beers on hand. All are refrigerated, even my impy stouts. Right now I have many styles on hand: Festbier, IPA, Kolsch, Porter, Xmas ales, English pales, tripels, dubbels, IPLs, pils, stout, imperial stout, irish dry stout, vienna, brown ale.

About 1/3 of the beers in my fridge I have been holding on to for many years. These are barleywines and imperial stouts. Many from 2011. I'm never tempted by them. Waiting for some guest to come along and drink them up.

So for me, I have a dedicated beer fridge in the garage filled at the moment with maybe 30 cans/bottles of stuff if I had to guess. Mainly the stuff I may buy in quantity, like Sierra Nevada packs or various six packs or whatever. All my “extras” tend to live here.

I also have a keezer inside the house that holds 4-5 of my homebrew kegs and also doubles as another hold for bottles/cans. So that probably has another 20-30 options, typically one or two cans/bottles max of a variety as I keep multiples in the garage fridge as mentioned above. This is the fridge I typically grab most of my bottles/cans we crack open.

In the basement, I have a lagering freezer that doubles as my last beer storage area. But because that freezer is set to 32F or so 24/7, that is more my “long term” storage point for various beers until they get moved to either the garage fridge or keezer to be a more manageable temp (40-42F) for drinking right away. So I have right now just like 2-3 stouts and a few pilsners.. It’s pretty barren at the moment.

Lastly, a closet in the basement that has like 15-20 big stouts, verticals and such or sours for long term aging. A fairly modest cellar, as I have not bought any big beers in a while. Been trying to work down the inventory slowly but surley.

I hit my peak last March at 440 bottles and decided that was way too much beer. I've drank down most of my 12 oz bottles and am hovering somewhere around 350 375's/22 oz/750's right now. All sours/saisons/stouts/barleywines and strong ales. It sits in a large closet in my basement that stays a decent temp year round. I have a mini fridge in the garage that only gets used in the summer and I drink 90% of my beer at "cellar" temp. IPA's are the exception but there's never more then a sixer in the kitchen fridge at any given time.

I'm really not trying to cellar anymore beer but the trend seems that every time I travel, I come home with more then I took with. 2 beers forward, 1 beer back.

I have one fridge that holds 205 beers. I know because I actually filled it up one time and counted. Not sure what screams nerd more. The fact I counted or how much beer I have.

Have a beer cellar with about 60-70 different bottles of various ages. A dedicated mini fridge for beer that can hold about 40 at a time, and several boxes out in the garage for winter, stay at about 50 F. I'm military, so when I get back to my parents', I have about 70-80 beers cellaring there too

Can anyone in this thread share their thoughts on storing beer on it's side?

I have a handful of bottles that have been getting stored on their side (due to space limitations). I recently heard this could be bad because the caps oxidize.
