I would be interested in doing something like this $4$ (maybe with another "off the beaten path" style) but under some stipulations:
-has to be something I haven't had/reviewed before on the Top 50 of the style (can send list)
-the more the better, meaning quantity over a few high priced bottles

Basically I wouldn't mind a tasting of a bunch of the same styles that I haven't already done before. Would anyone care enough to help me out? I don't think that would classify as an auction right?

Depends how many you could send me.

And they have to be somewhat fresh too. I don't want any 3 year old kolsches! Haha.

This is all hypathetical. If people are interested then I'll create an ISO.

In all seriousness though, this post is a breath of fresh air. Like old times, someone isn't holding something like a bcbs vert for the highest bidder, and instead actually looking for something they're genuinely interested in trying. Good for you, Duff. I'm sure you'll make someone's day with this.

Thanks guys. I've had BCBS a ton and maybe some hasn't or hasn't had it with a few years on it. I'd just like to try new beers. Now, I'm going to have to figure out whether to shoot for cream ales or gruits

Sounds like you just want to go over $4$ on semi-rarity for locals. Happens all the time. Some people won't do it, others will.

I would do it for a bunch of surly/mn locals, but I don't have access to many unique cream ales.

You're catching a lot of people off guard with this post. I wouldn't say nobody trades for Cream Ales, but no Cream Ale scores 4.0 or above on the Most Popular list: http://beeradvocate.com/lists/style/6. If someone can put together a package of local Cream Ales that matches a BCBS vert $4$, then they earned the trade.

I agree it's catching people off guard but that's because no one does anything like this (read: walezbro).

Cream Ale is/was just a hypothetical style, so I will roll with that. I'm not concerned with what it's BA score is as long as it's a quality example of the style. Here is an example ISO:

I would like to try as many solid cream ales as possible off the Top 50, here is what I still need:

    2 Slumbrew My Better Half
    Somerville Brewing Company (Slumbrew)
    3 Pumpkin Cream Ale
    Carton Brewing Company
    4 Jack Straw
    Cambridge Brewing Company

    Portsmouth Brewery
    6 Brady's Bay Cream Ale

Not really, was just pointing that out. Plus Jack Straw is more like a sour golden than a cream ale anyways.

Not particularly interested in Jack Straw or any of these really... as this was hypothetical... as stated twice earlier.

My question was whether people would understand my request/ISO, which from what I've gathered by people commenting on things that have nothing to do with the information I've put forth, the answer is no.

Oh well. Maybe I will get better at explaining things someday and other BAs will actually read what needs to be read.

As for interest, I would say a lot of people would be. It might be problematic finding someone with access to a large enough number of one style in their distro. How many year vert?

Thank you. This is the type of information that I am looking for! Now I may need to work on my explanation, maybe just link back to this thread. I agree it may be tough to hunt down more than a handful of a particular style so I may have to pick one that may be on the easier side. I'd like to think vintage BCBS, especially to someone just getting into craft, would be incentive to do a little local legwork looking for a not-so-popular style.

To answer your question, 5 years. From '08-'12. Thanks again lucas1801!
