A buddy has tasked me with trying to plan an itinerary for this Saturday to hit as many breweries/brewpubs via subway/uber/cab as possible. The following are out since we went there last year: Bronx, Singlecut, Transmitter, Other Half, Brooklyn and Flagship. Roughly thinking of starting at Gun Hill which we would have a ride to, then picking up subway to LIC Beer Project and fanning out from there. I'd like to hit Finback and my friend wants to go to Coney Island, but I'm sort of realizing that both far-flung places along with Gun Hill are not likely. Any other ideas?

Haha. Not realistic the way you've mapped out. I'd suggest getting that ride to Singlecut, then cabbing to Big Alice or LIC Beer Project. You can walk to either one from the other and also hit Rockaway Brewing. Keep walking and visit Transmitter (though I think the brewer's got no personality and is unfriendly) though I don't think they do much more than samples still. Walk or cab across the Pulaski and you can hit Keg and Lantern and Greenpoint Beer Works or whatever it is called.

If you aren't satisfied there, cab it to Threes and you can follow with a walk to Other Half.

Gun hill is close to the metro north which will get you to grand central in 15-20 mins saving you 40 mins plus and on weekends it's only 4 bucks a ride via " the city pass" from grand central the breweries in LIC are only a couple of stops away on the 7 train.

It's all about checking out the times the train runs every 30 mins or so but it's a blessing if you want to get from northern Bronx to the city in under 30 mins for cheap.

So gun hill to LIC beer project is not far fetch Coney Island is really far from about everything but Coney Island is a pretty awesome place to spend late evening/night

Transmitter has a few seats setup and will let you open bottles that you purchase there for on-site consumption now. Finback is quite a haul and will eat up a lot of time for transit. I wasn't all that impressed with Gun Hill when i was there for the BA Void of Light release. There are better breweries that are much closer to Queens/Brooklyn.

I forgot to mention this but if you're in LIC taking re G train one or two stops into greenpoint to visit keg and lantern is a great idea they make beers that remind me of Peekskill when Jeff O Niel was there

It's also literally around the corner from Torst - which, while not a brewery, is probably the best place to get Evil Twin brews on tap.

Was just at Torst yesterday; I didn't even consider any of the Evil Twin beers with all the other awesome options. Haha. I saw Keg & Lantern but was on a mission to walk to Queens with my pops so he could see some of that borough.

Since you've already eliminated many of the more popular breweries, I sort of feel like the concept is a bit of a waste of energy unless you two really really love visiting as many breweries as you can. Your list has you hitting every outer borough for just one brewery in each. That's a lot of time spent traveling instead of drinking or whatever. You could have fresh beers from all these places by just visiting bars in Manhattan or Brooklyn. (Barring Coney Island... I have no idea if the beers brewed there are actually available elsewhere.)

I say stick to the G train.

You can hit up all of these breweries within a short walk from the G train:

Other Half / Strong Rope / Threes / Kelso / Keg and Lantern / Greenpoint Beer & Ale / Transmitter / Rockaway / Big Alice / LIC Beer Project.

Then at the last stop of the G train at Court street transfer to the 7 then to the N/Q and you can head to Singlecut.

Barrier > Finback > LIC Beer Project > Threes > Other Half > Owl Farm > Mission Delores. That should fill your day and evening up. Other Half has some choice brews on right now. Worth stopping through even though you've been before.

Last summer my cousin and I invented a challenge called 5 Boro Brew tour when in one day we visited brewery in all 5 boros using only public transit (subway, bus, ferry) long drunken day.
Started at Bronx Brewery then to Paulaner Brewhouse then to Flagship then to Keg & Latern then to LIC Beer Project. Thinking of doing again with all new breweries once Staten Island Brewing Company opens up.

So we ended up starting with the three furthest flung places: Coney Island (better than expected with five taproom-only brews including a nice Porter. Gun Hill was ~2 hours away via subway and also decent though not as good overall as Bronx Brewery. Finback seemed pretty well with it and was probably the best experience overall despite being so far any train (we ubered). Ended up in a horrible "Alehouse" in Ridgewood to watch soccer but did make it to closing for Big Alice (good sour--didn't have time to try anything else) and LIC (had the Threes collab which was probably the best of the day).
