My best friend from college helps me brew on about half of my brew days. He's more knowledgeable about equipment and I understand brewing science. It works out pretty well. I've also had a couple other curious friends help and observe once or twice. I usually have them clean things. :grinning:

Brewing solo is mostly easy, but mashing and sparging is a pain in the ass without someone to help you with the hot water.

Solo brew days are always the smoothest but I have 4 friends that brew frequently and we do joint brew days sometimes and it makes it difficult to focus on the process at hand.

Anywhere between 0 and 1.5 people, but mostly 0. I have a brewer friend who stops over occasionally while I'm brewing, we take the opportunity to swap beers and do some sampling. And occasionally the wife will help out, but she's lost interest over the years.

Myself only, but I don invite everyone to come on over and drink. The more they drink, the more I brew which is ok by me

Usually just my brewing partner and me, but I don't mind friends stopping by...I put them to work.

Normally solo. My wife helps milling, bottling, and transferring. She's more onto her wine than beer. I have friends that come over to sample my brews on occasion. Used to be 3 of us that all brewed together, but 1 moved to Texas and lost touch with the other. I'd love to have friends that are passionate about brewing too. But beer isn't big in the small towns around me. A couple friends expressed interest in starting, but never took the first step cause of money. Hopefully I can find a brewing partner again.

Wife helps me bottle, but that's usually it. Every once in a while one of my 2 other friends who brew will come over, but they better not judge how I do things! There's a method to my madness and I like it that way. It's also hard when you have friends over, because you have to try and be a good host, while also thinking about all the shit you have to do on brew day – it makes for an even busier day than it already is. I prefer brewing solo, with some good music, and a few beers.

I brew by myself. It's just less complicated because I don't have to change my process to let people "help," and I don't drink so I don't forget things.

Although it is nice when people are there and they do things like sanitize and help me clean.

I am extremely lucky in that 5 of my good friends also brew. When we are able to make our schedules work we brew 25 gallons. Usually we'll do 3 different styles with two 10 gallon batches and one 5 gallon.

Lately though its been harder to get everyone together so I've been brewing solo more.

I brew with my wife, who knows the process. We double check each other. We don't drink while brewing.

0-3. I limit myself to two beers while brewing. The "helpers" drink a lot more than I do.

I usually brew solo, though I have had observers a few times. Generally no beers while brewing. It's just not worth the possibility of getting buzzed and forgetting to do something.

I run a brew club, so we brew with 2-5 people. We also do 10 gallon batches. When I am doing a 5 gallon batch it is just my and my buddy whom with I started the brew club.
the key to brewing with five poeple is being organized, and who ever has selected the beer recipe we are brewing is basically the "boss" for the day.

I almost always brew by myself, brewing is my quiet time, a time to unwind from work so I don't want some yapping fool in the garage with me, and I can't imagine the agony of having multiple yapping fools. I have had a couple of serious brewing students over the years, I taught them and sent them on their way.

Almost always solo. Sometimes my son helps, but in general that means helping me drink some beer.

It's always been just me, although I got a rescue dog months ago, and we have brewed together a couple times. She's not much of a help, but she keeps me company. She'll be keeping me company tomorrow.

I agree on principle, but have forgotten to do something a few times when drinking nothing but lots of coffee. This usually happens during the winter (I brew outdoors) when cold temps and wet hands are making me hurry (also, I've been brewing for 28+ years so senility may be involved). I've had brew sessions with several of us present, all drinking, when it went perfectly - usually when the weather is nice My default is to brew solo, or with one skilled friend, and have no beer until after flameout.
